Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in C&I or Electronics & Communication required.
  • 6+ years of experience in control & instrumentation in power generation or related industries.
  • Experience focused on C&I systems for turbines and related plant assets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead field instrumentation (turbine) operations and equipment reliability.
  • Monitor C&I systems including UPS, DCS, SWAS, CPU, Governing, ETS, and auxiliaries.
  • Perform scheduled calibrations and document findings and adjustments.
  • Overhaul units to maintain optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Provide on-field RCA, FMEA, and ZFO support to improve reliability.
  • Manage MoC processes for safe equipment modifications and changes.
  • Coordinate with contractors for routine maintenance tasks and resource allocation.
  • Support digitization and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency.

Job description

Purpose/Objective
  • This role is responsible to manage the operational integrity and reliability of control and instrumentation systems of a Turbine.
  • This role involves on-field execution of maintenance activities, scheduling and executing precise calibrations, providing technical support and ensuring that all equipment is meticulously monitored and maintained according to established checklists.
  • The lead is pivotal in maintaining the continuous, efficient operation of turbine systems through proactive management and hands‑on technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities of Role
  • Lead - Field instrumentation (Turbine) Operational Excellence and Equipment Reliability: Monitor the availability and functionality of all Control & Instrumentation (C&I) systems related to Turbine including UPS, DCS, SWAS, CPU systems, Governing system, ETS, HPLP Bypass, Turbine, and Auxiliaries.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks for SWAS, Motor Operated Valves (MOV), Turbine, and Auxiliaries to prevent operational disruptions.
  • Execute timely overhauls of units to maintain optimal performance and reduce downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment breakdowns promptly to ensure continuous operations.
  • Conduct scheduled calibrations of instrumentation and generate detailed reports on findings and adjustments.
  • Allocate necessary resources and guidance to contractor technicians for the execution of routine maintenance tasks.
  • Provide on-field support for Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Zero Forced Outage (ZFO) to enhance system reliability.
  • Implement MoC (Management of Change) protocols to ensure safe and compliant modifications to equipment and processes.
  • Technical and Process Improvement: Perform periodic backups of DCS, PLC, PSI, and other turbine and auxiliary systems to safeguard operational data.
  • Provide technical expertise and resources to contractor technicians for routine maintenance and system upgrades.
  • Follow equipment checklists meticulously to maintain high standards of operation and maintenance.
  • Inventory Management and documentation: Provide inputs to Team Leads for effective spares and inventory management, including the development of indigenous spares.
  • Manage the procurement process for equipment and services, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Manage documentation and as-built drawings for the section.
  • Business Sustainability: Implement and Follow IMS, AWMS, DISHA and CHETNA guidelines within the department to maintain business continuity.
  • Implement field related of ZFO Action Items and AWMS to promote continuous improvement.
  • Adhere to the BPT process, technical audits, and compliance with safety regulations to ensure zero accidents and a safe working environment.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, acts, and near misses in the work area to prevent potential hazards.
  • Follow the CHETNA process and ensure all departmental compliances are met.
  • Ensure compliance with safety audit observations and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Utilize the work permit system guidelines to manage and control work-related risks effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory compliances and regulations.
  • Digitization and Automation: Execute comprehensive digitization strategies and automation solutions to optimize operational efficiency across the department.
  • Implement process and system improvements by adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.
  • Ensure the integration of advanced technology and digitization in daily operations to improve system performance.
  • Drive the adoption of digital tools and platforms to streamline workflows and enhance data-driven decision-making.
