We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Consultant specialising in contaminated land or waste management to join the AtkinsRéalis Global Technology Centre in India. The role involves significant work on UK and International projects being delivered by the AtkinsRéalis UK Sustainable Land and Resource Management practice across a range of market sectors like Highways, Rail, Tunnels, including the development of Cities, Mass Transit and Energy infrastructure. We are looking for an individual with knowledge and experience of Environmental Site Assessments and Investigations, chemical assessment and quantitative risk assessment relating to land contamination, waste and brownfield regeneration, to join our Environment team and support an expanding project workload and client base. Your role 10+ years’ experience in environmental assessment, either in contaminated/ brownfield land or waste assessments. Post Graduate Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or science subject e.g. geology, geosciences, chemistry, environmental science and hydrogeology. Experience of conducting Phase 1 Site Assessment and Phase 2 intrusive Site Investigation, with experience of multiple site investigation techniques. Knowledge and technical understanding of conceptual site models and generic risk assessments for soils and waters. Ability to interpret and analyse large and complex soil and water data and produce well written factual and interpretative reports. Good communication and presentation skills with ability to network and build strong links to the UK practice. Understanding of environmental regulations ideally in the UK. Ability to take initiative and work independently or within a team. Willingness to learn and adapt to the project/team/wider team. Located near an AtkinsRéalis India office ideally Bengaluru or Mumbai, or willingness for regular travel to visit the team. Requirements Experience of working for global regions will be preferable either in an excellence centre or in the region. Knowledge / experience in soil waste management/waste handling/waste remediation is an advantage. Field work experience would be an advance but not essential. Knowledge and technical understanding of human health risk assessments, controlled waters (surface water and groundwater) and screening criteria used in the UK. UK industry standards and codes of practice for ground investigations and potentially contaminated sites i.e. CIRIA, 2001. Contaminated land risk assessment. A guide to good practice (C552), and have broad understanding of DEFRA, 2012. Environmental Protection Act 1990: Part 2A, Contaminated Land Statutory Guidance etc. Build excellent network, excellent professional relationships and strong links to the UK practice including utilising good communication and presentation skills. Originate and check soil and material management and permitting requirements and technical documents that may be required as part of the project. Originate and check contaminated land assessments and factual/interpretive reports including organisation, collation, and assessment of desk-based information as part of Phase 1 Desk Studies and Phase 2 ground investigation reports. Data management of large data sets of soils and water data using software packages such as sample scheduling, data transfer and statistics. Assisting in designing or able to design (then organise) environmental/geo-environmental site investigations, including soil sampling and ground gas/vapour/leachate/groundwater and surface water monitoring/sampling. Preparing Method Statements, Specifications and Drawings. Scheduling and managing work to acceptable quality, on time and to budget. Compliance with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, including preparing and reviewing health and safety plans and managing health and safety on sites.
