Job summary

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Senior Design Engineer (Civil: Structural) to lead detailed analysis, design, and quantity estimation for metro infrastructure projects. You will use STAAD.Pro and MS Excel to deliver safe, cost-effective solutions, and collaborate with multiple disciplines to ensure design integrity.

Based in Chennai, you will report to the Engineering Manager and drive design deliverables from concept through drawings and BOQ, complying with all regulatory and QA/QC standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include M.E / M.Tech in Structural Engineering.
• English language skills are required (compulsory).
• Experience: minimum 8 years as a Design Engineer with design of elevated/underground metro structures.

SECTION II: ROLE SUMMARY (Purpose of the Role)

Senior Design Engineer role is to create detailed analysis & designs, plans & specification that ensure safe & efficient construction of metro infrastructure projects while adhering to codes, regulations & environmental standards. Responsibilities include performing detailed structural analysis, precise structural design, and accurate quantity estimation using MS Excel and STAAD.Pro. Striving to deliver cost-effective, safe, and optimized design solutions that contribute to the development of metro infrastructure & bring value to organization.

SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Structural DesignDesign & analyze structural elements with a specialization in Metro & High-Speed Rail projects using state of the art software/technology & engineering principle.
• Develop Design Basis Report for metro projects, ensuring compliance with industry standard codes & regulations.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications & BOQ for the structural elements.
• Stay updated with various codal provisions and their applicability across different structural applications.
• Timely response to client feedbackAnalyze client feedback and incorporate necessary design revisions to ensure alignment with project requirements, functionality, and structural integrity.
• Discuss with the team leader on the modifications, ensuring that all changes reflect the client’s vision while maintaining technical feasibility and compliance with standards.
