Job summary

Celestica in Chennai is seeking an experienced Individual Contributor to own the full NOS lifecycle, from bring-up on new hardware to the development and sustenance of advanced networking features.

You will work on the core networking stack, developing high-performance, robust, and scalable solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver for customers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as an Individual Contributor in networking.
  • Proficient in C, C++, Python, and Go.
  • Deep knowledge of L2/L3 protocols (OSPF, BGP) and technologies like MPLS, VXLAN, QoS.
  • Strong experience with network management protocols/APIs: SNMP, NETCONF/YANG, REST, gNMI, gRPC.
  • Hands-on with Broadcom XGS/DNX NPUs; NOS development or sustenance is essential (SONiC NOS is a plus).
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead NOS bring-up on new hardware platforms and develop Linux device drivers; ensure HA and stacking are robust.
  • Develop and sustain NOS software for performance, reliability, and scalability; troubleshoot field issues.
  • Drive Layer 2/3 protocol development; optimize routing and related features.
  • Implement and maintain management interfaces such as SNMP, NETCONF/YANG, REST, gNMI, and gRPC.
  • Integrate with Broadcom XGS/DNX NPUs; leverage Marvell Innovium/Prestera as a plus.
  • Collaborate with QA, other engineering teams, and customer-facing teams to ensure successful delivery.

Detailed Description
Key Responsibilities
  • Platform Bring-up & System Features: Lead the bring-up of our NOS on new hardware platforms, including the development and integration of Linux device drivers. Ensure system-level features such as High Availability (HA) and Stacking are robust and performant.
  • NOS Development & Sustenance: Design, develop, and maintain software for our NOS, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability. This includes troubleshooting and resolving complex issues in the field.
  • Network Stack Development: Drive the development of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols. That may need expertise in routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP, as well as other key technologies like MPLS, VXLAN, and QoS. (May not be all the protocols mentioned here)
  • Management & Control Plane: Implement and sustain management interfaces and protocols, including SNMP, NETCONF/YANG, REST, CLI, gNMI, and gRPC, to enable seamless integration with network management systems. (May not be all the protocols mentioned here)
  • ASIC/NPU Integration: Leverage your strong experience with Broadcom's XGS/DNX family of devices to develop and optimize software for high-performance packet forwarding. Experience with Marvell's Innovium/Prestera family is a plus.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with other engineering teams, QA, and customer-facing teams to ensure the successful delivery and deployment of our products.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as an Individual Contributor in a networking domain.
  • Programming Languages: Rich, hands-on experience with C, C++, Python, and GoLang.
  • Networking Expertise:
  • In-depth knowledge of L2/L3 networking protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
  • Proven experience with MPLS, VXLAN, and QoS.
  • Management Protocols: Strong understanding and practical experience with network management protocols and APIs (SNMP, NETCONF/YANG, REST, gNMI, gRPC).
  • ASICs: Solid working experience with network processor units (NPUs) from Broadcom (XGS/DNX family).
  • NOS Experience: Prior experience in Network Operating System (NOS) development or sustenance is essential. Experience with SONiC NOS is a significant advantage.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent inter-working and collaboration skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple functional teams and customer-facing organizations.
Physical Demands
  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
