Job summary

Standard Chartered India is hiring an Architect for test automation in Bengaluru. You will design scalable frameworks for API, Web UI and data pipelines, automate end-to-end journeys, and integrate tests into Azure DevOps CI/CD. You will containerize environments with Docker and maintain dashboards for quality metrics.

Collaborating with product owners and developers, you will ensure testability, performance and security across microservices, driving shift-left quality in cloud-native platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Framework Development

• Architect, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance test automation frameworks for API, Web UI, and Data pipelines.
• Write robust, clean, and maintainable automation code (using Python, Java, JavaScript or TypeScript).
• Automate end-to-end user journeys, contract testing, and integration tests across microservice architectures.

CI/CD & Pipeline Integration

• Integrate automated test suites directly into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) for automated regression on every pull request.
• Containerize test environments and test suites using Docker for consistent execution in cloud-native pipelines.

Quality Strategy & Shift-Left

• Collaborate with product owners, developers, and BAs to analyze requirements and design comprehensive test plans early in the SDLC.
• Conduct code reviews for developers and fellow QA engineers to ensure code quality and testability.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities early through non-functional test integration.

Test Execution, Observability & Reporting

• Maintain test execution dashboards, reporting actionable quality metrics (code coverage, defect leakage, test reliability) to engineering leadership.
• Debug test failures, isolate root causes in system logs or telemetry and partner with developers to resolve defects quickly.

• Enforce and streamline sound development practices and establish and maintain effective governance processes including training, advice, and support, to assure the platforms are developed, implemented, and maintained aligning with the Group’s standards

Risk Management

• Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks for investment projects as well for new application build-out.
• Identify / address key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures.

Governance

• Awareness and understanding of the Group Technology Policy, Standards and Enterprise Risk management framework
• Responsible for delivering ‘effective governance’; capability to challenge peers effectively; and Willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.
• Work with program management office and 2nd line of defence teams to ensure portfolio governance are well managed.
