Job summary

Technip Energies Dahej invites applications for a Lead Engineer - Painting. You will lead surface preparation and coating inspection, ensure compliance with client and manufacturer specifications, and manage quality control throughout production and field activities.

Key responsibilities include developing QCP/ITP, supervising subcontractors, conducting coating tests, and driving continuous improvement. A senior professional with deep knowledge of standards and strong leadership is sought.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering or full-time diploma in engineering.
  • 12+ years in oil and gas, modular yards, heavy fabrication.
  • NACE Level II coating inspector or TWI/BGAS grade 2 painting inspector.
  • Familiar with codes ANSI, SSPC, ASTM, NACE, AWWA, ISO.
  • Proven execution management in shop/yard for equipment, modular fabrication & erection.
  • Strong understanding of relevant quality standards and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Leadership to manage a team of quality inspectors.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement surface preparation & coating procedures.
  • Define and implement surface preparation and coating inspection program (QCP/ITP).
  • Develop and implement targets and KPIs for surface prep and coating processes.
  • Review and approve subcontractor surface prep & coating procedure.
  • Supervise subcontractor activities to ensure client specs are followed.
  • Monitor subcontractor’s daily output and targets.
  • Perform holiday and adhesion tests.
  • Record and report inspection results and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in project audits and close findings.
  • Promote quality programs like Right First Time and Built-in Clean.
  • Participate in CNQ investigations and root-cause analysis.

About the opportunity we offer

The Painting Manager will be primarily responsible to ensure that the execution with quality and compliance of coating applications meets the specifications and standards of the client, the manufacturer, and the relevant authorities by verifying surface preparation, execution of jobs and handling the manpower and team, monitoring coating applications, conducting inspections, and documenting findings. He is also responsible to ensure that the subcontractors engaged for surface preparation and coating implement a robust monitoring and measurement system to achieve the desired quality

About the job
  • Develop and implement Surface preparation & coating procedure.
  • Define and implement surface preparation and coating inspection and surveillance program (QCP/ ITP) in keeping with client / project requirements.
  • Develop and implement targets and KPIs/ targets against surface preparation and coating processes.
  • Review and approve subcontractor surface preparation & coating procedure.
  • Supervise the subcontractor activities to ensure implementation of Client specifications during the production processes.
  • Monitor and control the subcontractor’s daily output and target.
  • Perform special coating tests such as Holiday test and Adhesion test
  • Demonstrate attention to detail quality through the ability to spot defects and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • To review & verify with Client that all works completed successfully and ensure that report/record are as Per Client Specifications and Fabrication Procedure.
  • Review and compile all field blasting and painting records for Manufacturing Data Report (MDR) or Project Documentation for submission to Client
  • Establish monitoring and measurement equipment control program for surface preparation & coating testing/ inspection equipment including calibration /test / inspection regime
  • Record and report the results of the inspection, identify any defects or failures, and recommend corrective actions or improvements
  • Participate in Project audits and ensure that the findings are closed effectively and on time.
  • Ensure that quality incidents are documented, investigated for root cause identification and resolved with appropriate corrective actions
  • Promote Technip Energies’ flag quality programs ,Right First Time and Built -it Clean in projects
  • Participate in Cost of Non-Quality (CNQ) investigations and root cause analysis as needed.

  • Minimum of 12+years of experience in the oil and gas, modular manufacturing yards, and the heavy fabrication industry.
  • NACE Level II coating inspector or TWI/BGAS grade 2 painting inspector
  • Familiar with codes ANSI, SSPC, ASTM, NACE, AWWA, ISO, etc.
  • Proven experience in execution management at shop/yard of equipment / modular manufacturing, piping & structure fabrication & erection, equipment erection within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of relevant quality standards, procedures and codes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams
  • Proficiency in inspection techniques and data analysis
  • Leadership skills to manage a team of quality inspectors
  • Ability to work independently.
