Job summary

BW Design Group is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer in Instrumentation & Control to join our Chennai team. You will work on industrial, manufacturing, and utilities projects, delivering instrument & control drawings and deliverables with safety and quality at the forefront.

The role requires coordinating with licensed engineers and other disciplines across offices, ensuring design integrity, and meeting client deadlines in Oil & Gas, FMCG, and advanced tech sectors.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in instrumentation & control design and detailed engineering.
• Background in engineering consultancy or EPC environments.
• Experience with Navisworks is preferable.
• Experience in AutoCAD with drafting and design standards.
• Basic understanding of instrumentation design concepts and deliverables.
• Experience with SPI and InTools is desirable.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards.
• Proven ability to meet client deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Instrumentation and control system engineering design for industrial, manufacturing, and utilities projects.
• Prepare datasheets, select and size instruments and valves, review vendor documents, and approve design deliverables.
• Prepare hook-up and installation drawings.
• Prepare cause-and-effect matrices.
• Prepare wiring and loop sheets, instrument index, IO lists, JB and panel layouts.
• Prepare cable schedules, cable tray sizing and loading.
• Prepare cable routing, tray and conduit layouts, grounding layouts and support drawings.
• Prepare BOM and bulk MTOs.
• Coordinate with other disciplines across multiple offices.
• Review P&IDs and ensure compliance with standards.

The candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to work with other engineering disciplines, sometimes across multiple offices.

Requirements:

• Background in engineering consultancy or EPC
• Good Experience with Navisworks is preferable.
• Experience in AutoCAD with detailed understanding of Drafting and Design standards is essential.
• Basic understanding of Instrumentation design concepts & Deliverables.
• Experience in SPI /InTools desirable.
• Conversant with International codes and Standards
• Proven ability to meet client deadlines.
