Job summary

Atlas Copco is seeking a Lead Firmware Engineer in Pune, India, to join a cross-functional team of electronics, software and mechanical engineers working on next-generation vacuum pumps and compressors. You will apply a methodical approach to firmware development and contribute to system testing and automated tests.

The role requires a graduate in electronics or computers with about 8 years of hands-on embedded C++ experience, Linux kernel/driver work, Git proficiency, and knowledge of

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in electronics or computers.
  • 8 years of industry experience preferred.
  • Hands-on coding in C++ in embedded environment (system programming).
  • Experience with Linux device drivers for EEPROM, SPI, CAN, SERIAL, FLASH.
  • Git version control proficiency.
  • Familiarity with open-source software communities.
  • Experience with Linux admin of build environments and embedded distributions.
  • Kernel development experience and driver development for ARM peripherals.
  • Familiar with U-Boot and Yocto/Buildroot.
  • Shell scripting proficiency.
  • Hardware knowledge incl. schematics/datasheets.

Responsibilities

  • Detailing requirements, software implementation, integration and system testing.
  • Design and develop multi-threaded embedded applications for vacuum pumps and compressors.
  • Understand legacy product development and operation principles.
  • Develop test suites for validation and testing.
  • Maintain and manage source code.

To succeed, you will need

  • A graduate degree in electronics or computers.
  • Desired 8 yrs of industry experience.
  • Hands on coding in C++ in embedded environment. ( System programming )
  • Experience and extensive knowledge Linux device driver development for EEPROM, SPI, CAN, SERIAL, FLASH devices.
  • Proficient in using Git for version control.
  • Knowledge of working with open-source software communities is preferred.
  • Proficient with implementing unit tests for software including test driven development.
  • Experience with Linux administration of build environments and custom embedded distributions.
  • Knowledge of working with the kernel development community
  • Proficient of Linux kernel and ARM microprocessor peripheral driver development
  • Proficient of U-Boot or other standard boot loaders
  • Solid Embedded linux experience with Yocto or Buildroot
  • Proficient with shell scripting
  • Proficient with working with hardware, schematics, and datasheets.
  • Familiar with network programming in Linux (TCP, UDP)
  • Knowledge of creating a board support package
  • Proficient with Make files or build systems
  • Must carry solid experience in technically being hands on the project.
  • Familiar with debugging tools and profiling tools
  • Knowledge of network configuration and debugging
  • Desired familiarity with various operating Systems such as, freeRTOS, Linux
  • Ability to work closely with Hardware & SQA team members as well as small teams to complete tasks.
  • Has a proactive, self-motivated approach to solving problems.

Job location

This position is based in Pune, India, with a hybrid working model. You will have the flexibility to work partly from our Atlas Copco Group, GECIA premises, and partly remotely. This arrangement supports a healthy work-life balance while maintaining effective collaboration with the onsite team.
