Job summary

Atlas Copco Holding GmbH in Pune, India, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring first-time-right delivery.

The role requires 3–8 years in industrial design, CAD proficiency (Inventor/AutoCAD), and knowledge of SAP/BPCS and Enovia PLM. The position offers a hybrid work model at our Pune facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–8 years of experience in industrial design, preferably related to compressor packages or mechanical systems.
• Fundamental knowledge of air compressors, assembly techniques, and system integration.
• Proficiency with CAD software (Inventor, AutoCAD), ERP (SAP/BPCS), and PLM (Enovia).
• Familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics, sheet metal, piping, flange design, and heavy fabrication.
• Basic programming or scripting skills (Python).
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional teamwork skills.
• Able to work under deadlines and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements to create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings.

Your role

• Interpret and analyze project requirements to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings, ensuring precision and compliance with design standards.
• Lead efforts in product sustenance by supporting continuous improvement initiatives such as value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE), cost reduction projects, and field failure analyses to enhance product performance and reliability.
• Ensure the delivery of engineering outputs with a strong focus on first-time-right execution and adherence to strict timelines, maintaining high-quality standards throughout all phases of design and development.
• Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation aligning with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality management systems, and regulatory requirements to facilitate clear communication and traceability.
• Proactively communicate project status, risks, and deliverables to multidisciplinary stakeholders, ensuring transparency and collaborative problem-solving.
• Plan and organize workloads effectively to prioritize customer deadlines while maintaining quality excellence, coordinating seamlessly with cross-functional teams including CAE, electrical design, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
• Participate actively in design reviews and engineering quality audits to uphold best practices and continuous process enhancements.
• Support resolution of technical issues encountered during assembly, testing, and inspection phases, working collaboratively to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver technical presentations and documentation for internal teams and external customers, fostering knowledge sharing and alignment.

To succeed, you will need

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering paired with 3-8years of experience in industrial design, preferably related to compressor packages or mechanical systems.
• Fundamental knowledge of air compressors, assembly techniques, and system integration.
• Proficiency with CAD software (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD), ERP (SAP/BPCS), and PLM (Enovia) platforms to efficiently develop and manage design data.
• Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, sheet metal, piping design, flange selection, and heavy fabrication processes.
• Basic programming or scripting skills (Python preferred) to support automation and optimization of engineering workflows.
• A detail-oriented mindset with excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional teamwork skills.
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude, organized approach, and ability to perform under deadlines and competing priorities.
