Role Description

We are seeking an experienced and business-focused Lead Engineer to lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of digital products supporting IndiGo’s ground and ramp operations. The role will own the digital product portfolio across Baggage operations in the digital department that includes BRS, Mishandled baggage, SBD Kiosk, EBT, Baggage weight tracking systems and related operational systems.. The role will also be cross utilized across passenger and apron systems including naviatire,Kiosk, airport systems. This is a techno-functional role requiring strong domain expertise, product management capabilities, and digital transformation experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Airport Operations teams, including Customer service, BMA & BBA, Ramp, Security, and Technology teams to improve baggage handling processes.
• Drive initiatives to improve baggage tracking, reconciliation, loading accuracy, and turnaround performance.
• Ensure Saas products and in-house build products functions as desired and with 99.9% uptime.
• Enable integrations with all airport systems, reservation systems, DCS and other 3rd party systems. Shoud have sound knowledge of integatrion using multiple methods like Api, Kafka, Messaging queues etc..
• Drive initiatives to improve OTP, turnaround efficiency, resource utilization, and operational performance.
• Define and drive the product vision, roadmap, and lifecycle for Baggage Operations applications.
• Ensure there are no open vulnerabilities in the applications.
• Ensure observability using applications Datadog etc.. is in place
• Partner with other airline operations vertical’s like OCC, Engineering, and flight operations teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
• Engage business stakeholders to gather, prioritize, and translate requirements into scalable digital solutions.
• Lead product backlog management, prioritization, release planning, and adoption initiatives.
• Drive integration of airport systems including Reservation systems, DCS, BRS, BHS,AODB, AOCC, data platforms, and enterprise applications.
• Provide solution envisioning and integration leadership, with a good understanding of data warehousing and analytics concepts.
• Leverage emerging technologies such as AI, GenAI, and Data Science to enhance airport and ramp operations.
• Manage RFPs, vendor evaluations, business cases, contracts, and supplier governance activities.
• Build high-level estimates, delivery plans, and timelines in coordination with business and technology teams, ensuring stakeholder sign-off.
• Develop deep expertise in assigned business domains, end-to-end processes, and operational workflows.
• Prioritize demand, manage the solution portfolio, and oversee end-to-end delivery of products and projects.
• Ensure solutions are appropriately scoped and translated into clear business requirements, maintaining governance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage stakeholders, vendors, risks, budgets, and governance processes.

Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of overall professional experience.
• Minimum 8 years of experience within the airline, airport, or aviation domain.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Aviation Management, or a related discipline. MBA preferred.
• Strong experience in product management, digital transformation, and airport operational systems.
• Experience managing large-scale enterprise applications, integrations, and transformation programs.

Strong understanding of Airport Operations, Baggage management, , Passenger Flow, Baggage Flow, Flight Turnaround Management,, Ground Handling, Resource and Asset Management, Operations Control Centres, operational analytics, and airport technology ecosystems.
