Job summary

ZF Group in Chennai, India seeks a Lead AI/ML Engineer to drive end-to-end OCR/ICR product development for RPA solutions. You will plan, implement and optimize AI/ML pipelines, working with Cross-functional teams to deliver production-grade document data extraction capabilities.

The role requires deep experience in Python, ML frameworks, and model deployment, including LayoutLM and PaddleOCR, with a focus on scalable enterprise applications and strong Azure/CI/CD experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field.
• 8–12 years total experience with 5+ years in AI/ML products focusing on OCR/ICR.
• Strong Python and ML framework expertise with Azure/CI/CD/automation.
• Experience in architecting and deploying enterprise AI products.

Responsibilities

• Plan, introduce and support end-to-end OCR/ICR product capabilities for RPA products.
• Lead development projects in a cross-functional AI/ML team from requirements to delivery.
• Develop and fine-tune vision-language and ML models for document data extraction.
• Customize pre-trained models (LayoutLM, Donut, Tesseract) for business needs.
• Implement OCR pipelines and enhance text recognition for structured/unstructured data.
• Hands-on with PaddleOCR, Tesseract and production deployment of ML models.

What you can look forward to as Lead AI/ML Engineer:

• Plan, introduce, customize, and support development projects for the complete end to end capabilities of OCR/ ICR Product and future RPA Products
• Implementation of full -life-cycle OCR/ICR solutions development projects in a cross-functional team of and Artificial Intelligence solutions from requirements gathering to solution delivery
• Develop and fine-tune vision-language models, machine learning models, especially for document-based use cases such as PDF, images data extractio
• Customize pre-trained models (e.g., LayoutLM, LayoutLMv2/v3, Donut, Tesseract, etc.) for specific business requirements.
• Implement OCR pipelines and enhance text recognition for structured and unstructured data
• Python (advanced) — FastAPI, ML pipelines. ML frameworks — PyTorch, TensorFlow, HuggingFace.

Your Profile as Lead AI/ML Engineer:

• Any Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with deep Technical knowledge on AI ML products, technologies, processes and procedure models
• 8-12 Years of overall experience and minimum 5+ years experience in AI ML products, primarily with OCR/ICR technologies.
• Profound knowledge of programming languages such as Python including ML frameworks/libraries and analytics tools and technology (Microsoft Azure, MLflow, CI/CD, Automations, OCR, etc.)
• Few years of experience as a Technical Architect and experience in analysis, design, development, testing and implementation of enterprise scale AI products
• ML model design, training & production deployment & OCR model training & fine-tuning
• Hands-on experience with OCR technologies (e.g., PaddleOCR, Tesseract).
