Job summary

gevernova is seeking an experienced Embedded Hardware Design Engineer in Chennai to lead end-to-end PCB design and hardware validation for industrial drives. The role covers component selection, manufacturing integration, and extensive simulation and testing.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in power electronics, expertise with Altium and other PCB tools, and strong EMI/EMC knowledge; exposure to AutoCAD/E-Plan and MATLAB/Simulink is a plus. This position is on-site with relocation support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 15+ years of Power electronics design & testing expertise for industrial drives.
• Proficiency in multilayer PCB designing using Altium, Zuken Cadstar, OrCad Capture, PADS & Expedition.
• Knowledge in AutoCAD / E-Plan and MATLAB/Simulink is an added advantage.
• Good knowledge in EMI/EMC testing as per industrial standards.
• Good knowledge in Power based product development.
• Good knowledge in Parts Design Validation & Production Validation.

Responsibilities

• End to End Embedded Hardware Design and Multilayer PCB Designing, tool preferably Altium Designer.
• Lead design from component selection to manufacturing and integration including DFMEA, DFM & DFA.
• Verify functional performance of prototypes under specified operating conditions.
• Schematic entry, PCB footprint creation and IPC-compliant validation.
• Design simulations for Thermal, SI, PI, EMI/C using Ansys IcePack, SIWave, Maxwell.
• Prepare and validate design documents: configurations, operation guidelines, BOM, drawings.
• Understand PCB manufacturing processes and SMT assembly.
• Document test requirements and conduct tests per UL/IEC standards.
• Coordinate with software team and field testing; basic debugging knowledge.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure robust design and timely delivery.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

• End to End Embedded Hardware Design and Multilayer PCB Designing, Tool preferably Altium Designer
• Should individually handle design and development from Component Selection to manufacturing and product integration including simulation, testing, DFMEA, DFM & DFA
• Verify functional performance of prototype hardware under all specified operating conditions.
• Schematic Entry, PCB Footprint creation and validation as per IPC Standards
• Design simulation for Thermal, SI, PI, EMI/C in Anysis IcePack, SIWave, Maxwell
• Prepare & validate Design documents - Configurations, principles of operation, application guidelines, specifications, BOM, SLD & drawings as per requirement
• Understand & Implement PCB Manufacturing processes, technology and Surface Mount assembly process
• Document functional test requirements and conduct test according to applicable standards (UL/IEC etc...)
• Co-ordinate with software team and test the application in field
• Basic knowledge in debugging software
