Job summary

Cyient Limited in Hyderabad seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer to drive electrical system design across FEED, detailed engineering, and procurement phases for EPC projects.

You will develop power distribution and grounding schemes, review SLDs and layouts, and ensure compliance with international standards while mentoring junior staff and interfacing with clients.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant electrical design engineering experience, with at least 5 years in EPC projects.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.
• In-depth knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IEC, NEMA, CSA, and other relevant codes.
• Experience with large transformers, MV motors, MV/LV switchgear, and VFDs.
• Ability to produce and review electrical drawings for VFDs and MCC networks.
• Strong analytical and presentation skills.
• Experience with 2D/3D design reviews and model walkthroughs.

Job Description:

Lead Electrical Engineer Responsibilities

• Lead electrical system design and execution across all EPC project phases (FEED, detailed engineering and procurement assistance).


• Develop and approve power distribution, lighting, cable routing, grounding, lightning protection and backup power systems.


• Prepare, review and validate engineering deliverables including single-line diagrams, cable schedules, load lists, and technical specifications.


• Review and validate 3D design and layout engineering. (Working knowledge of 3D design tools is highly desired)


• Perform and review short-circuit, load flow, arc flash, and protection coordination studies using ETAP or similar tools.


• Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, IEC, and other international standards.


• Coordinate with other discipline teams to ensure full system integration.


• Guide junior engineers and designers.


• Interface directly with client to resolve technical issues and align deliverables.

Desired Experience:

10+ years of relevant electrical design engineering experience (with minimum 5+ years within the EPC industry)

In addition, you will:

• Have atleast 5 years of supervisory experience.


• Have knowledge of advanced principles and techniques of electrical engineering, with experience delivering within a challenging and complex multi-discipline environment.


• Possess in-depth knowledge of latest industrial codes and standards (i.e. IEEE/ANSI, NEMA, CSA, NEC, CEC, NESC, IEC, etc.) and apply those relevant codes and standards to the design.


• Possess in-depth knowledge of major electrical equipment (i.e. large transformers, MV motors, MV & LV SWGR, VFD's etc.)


• Able to Generate and review electrical drawings for VFD's, Intelligent MCC's (Networks), associated switches


• Have a strong commercial awareness of design, and perform design consistent with safety, technical and commercial requirements.


• Possess a strong analytical ability, along with the ability to make technical presentations clearly and concisely.


• Have good knowledge of hazardous areas and electrical protection required for equipment and design located within the hazardous areas.


• Have minimum 5+ years of experience in NEC design.


• Have excellent knowledge of MS Office applications, spreadsheets, and commercial engineering programs.


• Be customer focused with an ability to develop trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


• Have working knowledge of 2D and 3D design tools, experience performing design reviews with 3D model walkthroughs etc.
