Job summary

MakeMyTrip in Gurgaon is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to drive our CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and automation initiatives. You will lead design and implementation of containerized applications on AWS and GCP, streamline deployment workflows, and mentor junior engineers.

Strong Linux, Docker, and scripting skills are required. The role focuses on optimizing cloud costs, implementing SAST tooling, and expanding monitoring with ELK/Grafana.

Qualifications

• Must have 6–9 years experience in DevOps or related roles.
• Strong Linux administration and Docker experience.
• Extensive AWS/Azure/GCP multi-cloud exposure with CI/CD.
• Proficient in Bash or Python scripting.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and Jenkins.
• Install and configure SAST tools such as SonarQube, Nexus, and enforce CI best practices.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker.
• Manage AWS cloud infrastructure, focusing on VPC, EC2 ECS, EKS, S3 IAM, ALB, Lambda, etc.
• Analyze and optimize the Cost of the cloud infrastructure.
• Install and manage third-party tools like Kong, Consul, Redash, Debezium, Kafka, and RabbitMQ.
• Perform application-level debugging and provide L2 support to the SRE team for production incidents.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Ansible and Terraform across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Manage monitoring and logging pipelines using tools like Zabbix and ELK.
• Build internal tools and automate routine tasks using Bash and/or Python scripting.
• Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure reliable and frequent software delivery.
• Continuously improve internal processes to enhance team efficiency and performance.
• Mentor junior team members through regular code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and hands-on technical guidance, ensuring consistent growth and alignment.

About The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Linux, containers, multi-cloud platforms (preferably AWS, GCP), CI/CD, and scripting to help streamline and enhance our development and deployment processes. You will be responsible for managing infrastructure, automating workflows, and ensuring high availability and performance of our applications.

What Will You Be Doing

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and Jenkins.
• Install and configure SAST tools such as SonarQube, Nexus, and enforce CI best practices.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker.
• Manage AWS cloud infrastructure, focusing on services such as VPC, EC2 ECS, EKS, S3 IAM, ALB, Lambda, etc., and associated networking components.
• Analyze and optimize the Cost of the cloud infrastructure.
• Install and manage third-party tools like Kong, Consul, Redash, Debezium, Kafka, and RabbitMQ (RMQ).
• Perform application-level debugging and provide L2 support to the SRE team for production incidents.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Ansible and Terraform across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Qualification & Experience

• 6 to 9 years of experience in DevOps or related roles.
• Strong experience in Linux system administration.
• Hands-on experience with Docker for containerization.
• Deep understanding of AWS Cloud services, especially VPC, ALB, EC2 ECS, EKS, and S3 IAM.
• Proven experience with Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus, and GitHub.
• Familiarity with build tools such as Maven (mvn) and npm.
• Strong scripting skills in Bash and/or Python.
• Solid experience with application debugging and system troubleshooting.
• Exposure to Mobile CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
• Familiarity with at least one programming language (e. g., Java, Node.js, Go, Python).
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e. g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
