Job summary

Teksystems is seeking a Lead Data Engineer in Hyderabad to lead a team of 3–4 engineers, design scalable data pipelines, and drive data platform initiatives. The role requires hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, ETL/ELT, and cloud data platforms with strong leadership capabilities.

Immediate joiners preferred; flexible relocation is considered for Hyderabad-based candidates. This office-based role entails 5 days/week on-site work and close collaboration with product and business teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data engineering experience.
• Hands-on with data pipelines, data platforms, and data architectures.
• Strong Python/SQL and ETL/ELT expertise.
• Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP cloud data platforms.
• Data warehousing, data lakes, and data modeling knowledge.
• Proficient in Spark/PySpark and distributed processing.
• Experience with Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
• Familiar with CI/CD, Git, and Agile practices.
• Leadership experience or mentoring a team.

Job Overview

We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer who is technically strong, hands-on, and capable of leading a small team of 34 Data Engineers. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in designing, developing, and optimizing data engineering solutions while also managing day-to-day technical activities of the team.

Candidates currently based in Hyderabad or those who are ready to relocate to Hyderabad are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 3–4 Data Engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platforms.
• Be hands-on with data engineering development, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Work closely with business, product, and technical teams to understand data requirements.
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for large-scale data processing.
• Ensure data quality, reliability, availability, and security.
• Review code, establish engineering best practices, and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.
• Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.
• Drive continuous improvement in data engineering processes and solutions.
• Manage task allocation, technical delivery, and timelines for the team.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in Data Engineering.
• Excellent proficiency in Python / SQL.
• Strong experience with ETL/ELT and data pipelines.
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS / Azure / GCP.
• Good knowledge of Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, and data modeling.
• Experience with distributed data processing technologies such as Spark / PySpark.
• Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow or similar.
• Strong understanding of database concepts, performance tuning, and data integration.
• Good understanding of CI/CD, Git, and Agile development practices.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Proven experience managing or technically leading a team of 3–4 members.

Candidate Preferences
