Job summary

GE Vernova seeks an experienced controls engineer to lead development, validation, and deployment of control software for solar and Battery Energy Storage projects. You will support on-site startup, integration, and commissioning, while collaborating with project managers and customers to finalize requirements.

The role requires deep expertise in SCADA, PLC/DCS, and industry protocols (OPC-UA, Modbus, IEC 61850).

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in electrical, electronics, instrumentation or controls engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of experience in developing and implementing control software.
• Experience with GE MarkVIe and tools like Toolbox ST and Workstation ST.
• Expertise in SCADA, PLC, DCS, and plant-level controls with systems integration.
• Familiar with industry protocols such as OPC-UA, Modbus, IEC 61850, and IEC 104.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and deploy control software for solar and BESS projects.
• Support on-site startup, integration, FAT/SAT/HIL, and commissioning.

• Prepare installation, commissioning, and operations documentation.

Roles and Responsibilities

• As part of controls team responsible for project deliverables, controls software validation, project specific software creation, FAT, SAT, HIL, commissioning support for Solar & Battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.
• Support on-site startup and integration of various systems to our hardware and software.
• Track overall status of controls deliverables and complete on time with quality for the assigned projects to meet goals of the control team.
• Have close interaction with project managers, various internal teams and customers to finalize engineering requirements with respect to contract scope and deliver the same to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with customers with confidence and clarity.
• Develop, improve, and administer customer overview and operational training material for the control system.
• Work across the Hybrid engineering and services organizations to prepare documentation for installation, commissioning, and operations for use by internal GE employees and our customers.
• Work on design, develop and deploy the control hardware configuration for each project and design the communication network, including but not limited to DI/DO, Ethernet, FO and other industrial communication etc.
• Support problem identification and resolution of new and installed products.
• Drive performance and reliability enhancements back to the product
• Participate actively in controls design, Software code reviews, testing and software validation.
• Work on standardization of controls project execution, software validation, implementation.

Required Qualification & Experience

• Bachelor/master’s degree in electrical /electronic/instrumentation/controls engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in developing and implementing control software.
• Experience in GE’s MarkVIe product & tools like GE’s Toolbox ST, Workstation ST, Cimplicity software (SCADA), P80i software is preferable.
• Demonstrated Software expertise in Solar, Battery Energy storage, Plant level controls, validation and verification, formal methods, systems integration, advanced controls, or related technologies.
• Familiarity with standard industrial protocols such as OPC-UA, Modbus, EGD, Profibus, CAN bus, IEC 61850 and IEC 104 etc.
• Experience in PLC, DCS, SCADA, SQL and Matlab Simulink software.
• Experience in various countries grid code compliance particularly Australian grid code, PLQ & AEMO requirements, UK, USA, European, Germany, Itali, Turkey & India grid codes.
• Familiar with AS/NZS safety standards.
• Worked in any power generation industry like BESS, solar. renewable, thermal, nuclear etc.
• Experience in communication networks equipment’s functionality, Selection, Software features, Hardware & Cyber security.
• Demonstrated implementation of controls or systems integration in products and field engineering experience.
