Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking an experienced Electrical/Instrumentation/Controls Engineer to lead detailed engineering and EPC activities for Solar, BESS, and Hybrid Plant Control Systems. You will coordinate across stakeholders, develop drawings, and ensure system integration and safety standards are met.

The role demands 10+ years in engineering and project execution, with deep knowledge of energy storage, inverters, and protection coordination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Controls Engineering or Science.
  • 10+ years in detailed engineering, EPC, project execution, control software design/implementation.
  • Expertise in Solar, Energy Storage, plant-level systems, inverters, RMU, BOP equipment.
  • Experience leading large-scale engineering projects, simulation models, and site work.
  • Familiarity with grid-code compliance across countries.
  • Experience in power generation industries (renewable, thermal, etc.).
  • Knowledge of communications networks, software features, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience implementing controls or systems integration in products and field engineering.
  • Knowledge of GE MarkVIe and tools listed above.
  • Ability to interpret power system design outputs (SLDs, protection coordination, load-flow, fault studies, harmonic analysis).
  • Design systems to meet reliability, testing standards, manufacturability and cost guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver project deliverables and coordinate with stakeholders; provide detailed engineering, validation, and commissioning support.
  • Serve as single point of contact for technical issues.
  • Track overall status to meet team goals.
  • Lead balance-of-plant technical aspects and develop drawings.
  • Develop training material for control system operations.
  • Prepare installation, commissioning, and operations documentation.
  • Drive performance and reliability enhancements back to the product.
  • Coordinate with sourcing/project team on technical matters to meet costs and schedules.
  • Define processes, perform RCA, corrective actions, and ensure quality and standardization.

Job description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Take care of project deliverables, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, detailed engineering, controls software validation, and commissioning support for Solar, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) & Hybrid Plant Control System and Inverter.
  • Single point of contact for technical issues for the customer and project manager.
  • Track overall status of project deliverables for the assigned projects to meet team goals.
  • Responsible for leading and coordinating all balance‑of‑plant technical aspects of energy storage projects, including developing single line drawings and schematics, plan and elevation drawings, general arrangement and site layout, relay protection and control requirements, layouts for LV/HV equipment, conduit, cable, wiring, grounding, and control buildings. As the technical leader for assigned engineering projects or a program of projects, responsibilities also include schedule development, sourcing initiatives, design review tracking, quality control/assurance, and contractor management.
  • Develop, improve, and administer customer overview and operational training material for the control system.
  • Work across the hybrid engineering and services organizations to prepare documentation for installation, commissioning, and operations for use by internal GE employees and our customers.
  • Drive performance and reliability enhancements back to the product.
  • Coordinate with sourcing and the project team on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control objectives, and schedule objectives. Accountable for team results to deliver a high‑quality product to customer requirements on time and on or under budget.
  • Define processes and procedures, perform root cause analysis (RCA), perform corrective actions, and validate process control. Support quality and standardization initiatives.
Required Qualification & Experience
  • Bachelor/Master degree in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Controls Engineering / Science from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience with detailed engineering, EPC, project execution, control software design/development/implementation.
  • Expertise in Solar, Energy Storage, plant‑level system, inverter, transformer, RMU, BOP plant equipment, systems integration, etc.
  • Experience in leading large‑scale engineering projects, EPC, detailed engineering, simulation models, power electronic equipment, product design, and site experience.
  • Experience in various countries grid‑code compliance.
  • Worked in any power generation industry like renewable, thermal, nuclear, etc.
  • Experience in communication networks equipment’s functionality, selection, software features, and hardware & cybersecurity.
  • Experience in implementation of controls or systems integration in products and field engineering.
  • Knowledge of GE’s MarkVIe product & tools like GE’s Toolbox ST, Workstation ST, Cimplicity software (SCADA), P80i software, HDM & Simulink.
  • Experience in interpreting power system design output such as SLDs, LV & MV protection & coordination, voltage‑drop/dip calculations, load‑flow and fault studies, arc‑flash calculation, transient system and scenario analysis, harmonic (VTHD) calculations, MV & LV power system cabling (cable selection, rating, etc.), quality of power supply, EMC.
  • Design system/equipment to meet reliability, testing standards, manufacturability, material and cost guidelines.
