Role & responsibilities
JOB PURPOSE
To lead and ensure comprehensive validation of products by managing the traceability of validation status, making critical decisions on major blocking issues, and reviewing test cases and technical requirements. Responsible for preparing test benches as per project specifications, driving automation and innovative test techniques to optimize timelines, and overseeing product integration and verification in the vehicle environment. Provides mentorship to junior engineers and defines the overall validation strategy, translating it into Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) or Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) test frameworks based on project needs. Ensures effective coordination, traceability, and quality throughout the validation lifecycle to deliver reliable products that meet customer and business requirements.
Principal accountabilities
1. Manage Validation Traceability and Status
- Monitor and maintain validation traceability to ensure comprehensive coverage and progress tracking across all test phases.
- Make informed decisions on blocking issues related to major bugs to prevent delays and ensure product readiness.
2. Review and Approve Test Cases and Technical Requirements
- Review and validate test cases and system requirements to guarantee alignment with project goals and completeness of test coverage.
- Responsible for collaborating with the system engineer to meet the customer requirements or functional specifications.
3. Develop and Prepare Test Benches
- Design and set up test benches according to project specifications to facilitate efficient and reliable validation processes.
- Optimize test environments to replicate real-world scenarios for accurate product evaluation.
4. Drive Automation and Testing Innovation
- Propose and implement automation frameworks and advanced test techniques to reduce validation timelines and increase efficiency.
- Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements and technology adoption in testing methodologies.
- Responsible for planning, executing, and analyzing long-duration automotive tests to ensure the product and component reliability, durability, and compliance with quality standards.
5. Lead Product Integration and End-User Verification
- Coordinate product integration into vehicle systems to validate functionality and performance in real operating conditions.
- Ensure seamless verification of the product from end-user perspective to meet quality and usability standards.
- Responsible for collecting real-time data to ensure that the product meets the system/customer requirements.
6. Mentor and Develop Junior Engineers
- Provide guidance, technical support, and knowledge sharing to junior team members to enhance their skills and productivity.
7. Define and Lead Validation Strategy
- Develop and implement the overall validation strategy, translating it into Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) or Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) test setups as per project needs.
- Ensure strategic alignment with business objectives, technical requirements, and project timelines.
- Responsible for collaborating with the development and system team to resolve the major bugs as per functional requirements.
8. Maintain Team and Resource Traceability
- Track and manage the contributions and responsibilities of team members to ensure accountability and clear ownership within the validation process.
- Coordinate resource allocation effectively to meet project milestones and delivery expectations.
Preferred candidate profile
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualification required: B tech/BE in Electronics/ENTC/Electrical
- Qualifications preferred: M tech/ME in Electronics/ENTC/Electrical
Work Experience
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in automotive industry with at least 2+ years in a lead or senior role
- Strong expertise with Vector tools (CANoe, CANalyzer, CAPL), HiL systems (dSPACE, NI, ETAS), and simulation tools (IPG CarMaker, SCANER or relevent)).
- Strong knowledge of vehicle communication protocols (CAN, UDS, LIN, J1939).
- Understanding of ADAS features (ACC, AEB, LKA, FCW, BSD, TSR/OSP).
- Familiarity with ISO 26262
- Strong programming/scripting skills (Python, CAPL, MATLAB/Simulink)
- Strong understanding of system architecture and embedded software testing.
- Exposure to over-the-air (OTA) updates and vehicle connectivity.
- Proficiency in defect tracking tools (JIRA, ALM, VISURE) and test management tools.
- Familiarity with Android Automotive OS, QNX, or Linux-based IVI platforms.
