Zohorecruit in Chennai, India seeks an experienced Technical Lead – Backend Systems to own backend architecture while staying hands-on with engineering. The role demands 15+ years of experience in backend development and strong expertise in Python, FastAPI, and distributed systems.
You will design scalable services, lead architecture discussions, mentor engineers, and work with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and various data stores.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of backend/software engineering experience.
- 3+ years of production experience with FastAPI.
- Expert-level Python knowledge.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL.
- Experience with at least one NoSQL datastore.
- Strong understanding of SOLID, GoF Design Patterns & DDD.
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems.
- Experience designing and evolving large-scale systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms and deployments.
- Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, API Gateways & Rate Limiting.
- Experience with microservices and/or event-driven architectures.
- Previous experience as a Senior Backend Developer, Tech Lead or Solution Architect.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve scalable, resilient backend systems
- Develop high-performance services using Python & FastAPI
- Define service boundaries, data ownership, and communication patterns
- Work with Microservices, Modular Monoliths & Event-Driven Architectures
- Design and optimize PostgreSQL/MySQL and NoSQL data stores
- Build RESTful APIs and asynchronous services
- Work with Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS or similar messaging systems
- Design systems capable of handling failures, retries, timeouts and high traffic
- Drive technical decisions around performance, cost, scalability and maintainability
- Work with AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, CI/CD and Kubernetes
- Lead architecture discussions, code reviews and technical design sessions
- Mentor engineers and establish backend engineering best practices

What You'll Do
