Job summary

Airbus India Private Limited seeks a Lead Avionics Verification Engineer to spearhead V&V of safety-critical real-time embedded software for Airbus Helicopters. You will ensure DO-178B/C compliance and act as a technical bridge between development teams and certification authorities.

You will define verification strategy, oversee multi-level testing, perform root-cause analysis, and mentor a team of test engineers while supporting certification activities and audits.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in DO-178B/C safety-critical software environments.
• Strong mapping of tests to requirements with complete traceability.
• Experience with Software Configuration Management and QA processes.
• Ability to perform rigorous reviews of requirements, design and code (C).
• Knowledge of real-time operating system constraints (scheduling, interrupts, memory).

Responsibilities

• Define and execute verification for HL R and LL R.
• Oversee Unit, software-software integration and hardware-software integration testing.
• Investigate and resolve issues from testing campaigns or flight data.
• Lead and mentor a team of test engineers, enforcing testing best practices.
• Drive verification artifacts during formal certification audits (SOI#3 and SOI#4).

Job description

Main Responsibilities

As a Lead Avionics Verification Engineer, will spearhead the Verification & Validation (V&V) of safety-critical, real-time embedded software for Airbus Helicopters. You will ensure that every line of code meets the stringent safety requirements of DO-178B/C (Level A/B) standards, serving as a technical pivot point between development teams and certification authorities.

A. Main Activities

• V&V Strategy: Defining and executing verification for High-Level Requirements (HLR) and Low-Level Requirements (LLR).
• Multi-Level Testing: Overseeing Unit, Software-Software Integration, and Hardware-Software Integration (HSI) testing on both host and target environments.
• Root Cause Analysis: Investigating and resolving complex issues identified during testing campaigns or reported from in-service flight data.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Acting as a focal point for a team of test engineers, providing technical guidance, and ensuring best practices in testing.
• Certification Stewardship: Driving and defending verification artifacts during formal certification audits (SOI#3 and SOI#4).

B. Skills

• Standard Mastery: Proven track record working within DO-178B/C frameworks for safety-critical systems.
• Requirement-Based Testing (RBT): Deep expertise in mapping tests to requirements to ensure 100% traceability.
• Lifecycle Expertise: Strong grasp of Software Configuration Management (SCM) and Quality Assurance processes.
• Review Rigor: Ability to perform critical reviews of Software Requirements, Design, and Code (C).
• RTOS Knowledge: Understanding of Real-Time Operating System constraints (scheduling, interrupts, memory management).
• Project Leadership: Experience in managing timelines, resources, and delivery milestones.
• Analytical Precision: A \"test-to-fail\" mindset with extreme attention to detail.
• Stakeholder Management: Ability to communicate complex technical risks to project managers and clients.
• Agility: A quick learner capable of adapting to evolving aerospace technologies and standards.

• Toolchain Proficiency: Hands-on experience with RTRT (Rational Test RealTime), SCADE.
• Systems Thinking: Knowledge of Avionics communication protocols (ARINC 429), System Knowledge.
