The role combines HVAC knowledge with controls programming, supporting product releases and sustaining existing solutions. Strong collaboration in a distributed team is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Strong HVAC systems understanding and field experience with control strategies.
• Experience with BAS/BMS or controls programming and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain control programs using Automated Logic tools (Eikon, EQBuilder, SiteBuilder ViewBuilder, WebCTRL and iVu).
• Implement and validate sequences of operation for HVAC equipment (Chiller Plant, RTUs, VAV, FCU).
• Build and maintain equipment graphics with ViewBuilder and EQBuilder.
• Integrate and validate industry protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks) across systems.
• Test applications in lab environments and support field readiness.

About the role

Carrier is seeking an Application Engineer to join the Application Engineering team supporting HVAC controls and building automation solutions. This role is responsible for developing, testing, and delivering control applications, graphics, and technical documentation for factory and field‑deployed systems. The ideal candidate will combine strong HVAC knowledge with controls programming expertise and will play a key role in enabling successful product releases and sustaining existing solutions across multiple product platforms.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

Controls Application Development

• Develop and maintain control programs using Automated Logic tools (Eikon, EQBuilder, SiteBuilder ViewBuilder, WebCTRL and iVu)
• Implement and validate sequences of operation for HVAC equipment including Chiller Plant, RTUs, VAV systems, fan coil units, and heat pumps

Graphics & Visualization Development

• Build and maintain equipment graphics using ViewBuilder and EQBuilder
• Support large‑scale graphics library updates, including standardisation and migration efforts
• Ensure consistency and usability of graphics across multiple products and platforms

Product Development & Support

• Contribute to development and delivery of key initiatives such as:
• Multi‑zone VAV systems
• RTU Open and field replacement solutions
• TruVu platform applications (RTU, FCU, WSHP, VAV)
• ClimaVision / TFCU products
• Support alignment between controls software and factory equipment releases

Protocol Integration & Communication

• Develop and implement applications using industry‑standard communication protocols Ensure seamless interoperability between systems, devices and platforms
• Configure, integrate and troubleshoot communication protocols in application environments
• Validate data exchange, system connectivity and performance across networks
• Support integration of devices and systems using field‑level and enterprise‑level protocols
• Relevant Protocols (example): BACnet, MSTP, Arc Net Modbus, Lon Works, CCN (Building Automation Systems)

Testing & Validation

• Perform hands‑on testing of applications and graphics using lab hardware and simulation environments
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during testing and validation
• Support field readiness by ensuring robust and configurable application behaviour

Documentation & Requirements

• Develop and maintain: Sequence of operation documents
• Installation and startup guides
• Technical documentation and user‑facing content

Sustaining Engineering

• Support ongoing product maintenance and continuous improvement efforts, including:
• Bug fixes and defect resolution
• Graphics updates and library enhancements
• Product obsolescence and sustaining support

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, or related field) or equivalent experience
• Strong understanding & Field Experience of HVAC systems, equipment and control strategies
• Experience with building automation systems (BAS/BMS) or controls programming
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug technical issues in control systems or software
• Experience with Automated Logic tools (Eikon, EQBuilder, SiteBuilder ViewBuilder, WebCTRL and iVu)
• Familiarity with BACnet or similar communication protocols
• Experience developing HVAC control applications (Chiller Plant, RTU, VAV, AHU, FCU systems)
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical thinking
• Effective communication and collaboration skills in a distributed team environment
• Attention to detail with a focus on quality and reliability
• Ability to learn complex systems and develop deep technical expertise over time
