Job summary

Grand Mercure Bengaluru Gopalan Mall invites an experienced Laundry Manager to lead the daily laundry operations, ensuring SOPs are followed and hotel standards are met. The role includes planning and budgeting for the laundry, supervising staff, coordinating with engineering on equipment, and maintaining linen inventory and quality.

You will drive safety, hygiene, and service excellence while fostering teamwork and professional development within the laundry team.

Qualifications

• 10+2 / Diploma / Degree in Hotel Management or a related field.
• Understanding of linen and uniform inventory, stock control, and record maintenance.
• Knowledge of hygiene, safety, and quality standards for hotel linen and uniforms.
• Ability to supervise laundry attendants and coordinate daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Housekeeper to plan, organize and execute daily laundry operations.
• Assign and review the work of the laundry team engaged in receiving, washing, ironing, packaging and delivering.
• Ensure that all SOPs for the Laundry department are followed.
• Bring any matters affecting Grand Mercure Bengaluru Gopalan Mall to management attention.
• Plan and implement preventive maintenance for all laundry equipment.
• Assist in budgeting revenues and costs for the Laundry department.
• Motivate and develop staff to ensure smooth functioning and teamwork.
• Develop and maintain relationships with service providers.
• Respond to customer queries by resolving issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.
• Ensure the team is trained for safety provisions.
• Review monthly income and expenditure and develop action plans.
• Coordinate with Engineering on maintenance and procurement of laundry equipment.
• Keep abreast with developments in the laundry industry and textile care.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic laundry area and optimize resource usage.

Job Description

Prime Function:

• To assist the Executive Housekeeper to plan, organize, and execute the daily operations of the Laundry Department.


• Assign and review the work of the laundry team engaged in receiving, washing, ironing, packaging and delivering.


• Ensure that all the Standard Operating Procedures set for the Laundry department are followed.


• Any matter which may effect the interests of Grand Mercure Bengaluru Gopalan Mall should be brought to the attention of the Management.

Key Responsibilities:

Laundry Planning

• Assist the Executive Housekeeper to plan and ensure to implement preventive maintenance for all the laundry equipments.

• Ensure to assist the Laundry Manager to plan and budget the revenues and costs for the Laundry department.

People Management

• Ensure that all personnel are kept well informed of department’s objectives and policies.


• Motivate and develop staff to ensure smooth functioning of the department and promote teamwork.

• Develop and maintain effective relationships with all service providers.

• Respond to customer queries by resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner to ensure customer satisfaction.

• Ensure that the team has been trained for all safety provisions.

Financial Management

• Assist the Executive Housekeeper to conduct periodic and annual inventory of equipment & recommend replacement of equipment as required.


• Identify optimal, cost effective use of the resources and educate the team on the same.


• Assist the Executive Housekeeper to review the monthly income and expenditure report of the laundry and develop an action/work plan.

Operational Management

• Plan and schedule work for the group to ensure proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.


• Co-ordinate with the Director of Engineering in the area of maintenance and purchase of various laundry equipment.


• Ensure to keep abreast with new developments in the laundry industry, trends in textiles and chemicals for textile care.


• Ensure that the laundry equipment and area of work is maintained in a clear, safe & hygienic manner and as per the standards.


• Monitor and control consumption of power, steam, detergents and other chemicals and devise methods for optimal usage of these.


• Supervise and direct the daily activities of all laundry staff and are responsible for the efficient and smooth operation of the department.


• Co-ordinate with the Executive Housekeeper on the purchase & quality of room linen.

Other Terms & Conditions

a. During the course of your employment with the Hotel you may be required to stay back or work extended hours as and when the need arises during hotel operations against the responsibility assigned to you.

b. You might be required to do night shifts or be flexible to work in any shift as per the requirement of the department or the hotel.
