Job summary

Balasore Alloys Limited seeks a senior laboratory professional to oversee end-to-end sample preparation and chemical analysis for chrome ore and concentrates. You will operate XRF and wet-chemistry methods, calibrate instruments, and ensure CRM usage while delivering timely grade reports for planning and dispatch.

The role requires 10+ years in mining/metals labs with at least 3–4 years in a supervisory capacity, plus strong leadership and report-writing skills.

Qualifications

• Hands-on XRF and wet-chemistry methods
• Working knowledge of NABL accreditation and QA/QC systems
• Experience with chromite/ferroalloy analysis preferred
• Strong team leadership and report-writing skills

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end sample preparation (crushing, splitting, pulverising) and chemical analysis of chrome ore and concentrate for CrO, Fe, SiO, AlO, MgO and Cr/Fe ratio
• Operate, calibrate and maintain XRF and wet-chemistry instruments; ensure use of certified reference materials (CRMs)
• Issue timely grade reports for mine planning, ore blending and dispatch
• Implement QA/QC protocols including duplicates, blanks and inter-lab checks
• Establish and maintain NABL (ISO/IEC 17025) practices, documentation and audit readiness
• Lead, train and schedule lab staff across shifts; ensure lab safety and chemical handling standards
• Coordinate with mining, plant and dispatch teams on grade-related issues
