Job summary

Earth En Quest Advisory, based in Raipur, seeks a Lab Technician to support water, wastewater, and soil analyses in a full-time, on-site role. You will perform tests, calibrations, QA/QC, and document results to ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and NABL standards.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in water and/or wastewater quality analysis is essential.
• Experience in soil testing will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of common water and wastewater parameters (pH, EC, TDS, TSS, turbidity, alkalinity, hardness, chloride, BOD, COD).
• Familiarity with NABL/ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory practices and QA/QC documentation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical, chemical, and other analyses of water, wastewater, and soil samples.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Follow SOPs, BIS/APHA methods, and other testing standards.
• Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures.
• Carry out instrument calibration and maintain calibration records.
• Maintain laboratory documentation, test registers, worksheets, and sample records.
• Understand NABL accreditation requirements and ISO/IEC 17025 practices.
• Prepare accurate test reports and supporting documentation within timelines.
• Ensure proper sample receipt, preservation, and chain-of-custody documentation.
• Conduct field sampling of water, wastewater, and soil when required.
• Assist in creating and updating SOPs and quality records.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness and safe handling practices.

Hiring: Lab Technician - Water, Wastewater & Soil Testing

Location: Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India

Earth En Quest Advisory is an emerging environmental consultancy based in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, focused on environmental monitoring, water and wastewater quality assessment, environmental compliance, laboratory testing, and sustainability solutions.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Lab Technician to support our laboratory operations, with a focus on water, wastewater, and soil quality analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct physical, chemical, and other relevant analyses of water, wastewater, and soil samples using applicable standard test methods.
• Perform routine laboratory tests and operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), relevant BIS/APHA methods, and other applicable testing standards.
• Implement and maintain laboratory Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures.
• Carry out instrument calibration, verification, routine maintenance, and proper maintenance of calibration and equipment records.
• Maintain laboratory documentation, test registers, worksheets, sample records, and quality control records.
• Understand and support compliance with applicable NABL accreditation requirements, including ISO/IEC 17025, and laboratory quality management practices.
• Prepare accurate analytical results, test reports, and supporting documentation within agreed timelines.
• Ensure proper sample receipt, identification, preservation, storage, handling, and chain-of-custody documentation.
• Conduct field sampling of water, wastewater, and soil, whenever required, following appropriate sampling procedures.
• Assist in the preparation and updating of SOPs, laboratory manuals, quality records, and other technical documents.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, chemical inventory, safe chemical handling practices, and compliance with laboratory safety procedures.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma, B.Sc., or M.Sc. in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a relevant scientific discipline.
• Practical experience in water and/or wastewater quality analysis is essential; experience in soil testing will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of common water and wastewater parameters such as pH, electrical conductivity, TDS, TSS, turbidity, alkalinity, hardness, chloride, BOD, COD, and other relevant parameters.
• Working knowledge of laboratory QA/QC, calibration, standardization, analytical quality control, and documentation.
• Familiarity with sampling techniques, sample preservation, handling, and transportation.
• Understanding of NABL requirements and ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory practices.
• Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and well-documented laboratory test reports.
• Good attention to detail, organizational skills, and a responsible approach to laboratory work.
• Willingness to undertake occasional field visits for sample collection.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in an environmental testing laboratory, water testing laboratory, wastewater testing facility, or soil testing laboratory.
• Hands-on experience with BOD incubators, COD digesters, UV-Visible spectrophotometers, analytical balances, pH meters, conductivity meters, and other routine laboratory instruments.
• Experience with laboratory calibration records, control charts, reference standards, blanks, duplicates, and other QA/QC practices.
• Exposure to NABL-accredited laboratories, internal audits, proficiency testing, and ISO/IEC 17025 documentation.

Work Schedule & Compensation

• Working days: Monday to Saturday.
• Working hours: 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
• Weekly off: Sundays; alternate Saturdays off may be introduced.
