Job summary

Metal Power Private Limited seeks a dedicated technician to support the Mechanical Testing and Metallurgy Laboratory. You will perform mechanical and metallurgical tests, document results, and ensure accuracy per lab protocols.

Responsibilities include tensile, hardness, impact, dimensional testing, metallography, microscopy and report preparation, complying with ASTM/ISO standards and ISO/IEC 17025 basics where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical testing and metallurgical lab support for routine operations.
• Perform Tensile Testing, Hardness Testing, and Impact (Charpy/Izod) tests as required.
• Carry out Dimensional Testing and pipe sample cutting, mounting, polishing, and etching.
• Conduct Ultrasonic Testing and Metallography / Microstructure analysis.
• Operate Optical microscope and evaluate grain structure, phases, inclusions, defects and other metallurgical characteristics.
• Prepare and verify metallurgical test reports; ensure data accuracy per lab protocols.
• Apply knowledge of ASTM / ISO testing standards.
• Maintain basics of ISO/IEC 17025 in lab documentation and reporting.

Primary purpose of the role

To provide technical and operational support for day-to-day activities of the Mechanical Testing and Metallurgy Laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely execution of testing, metallographic examination, documentation and reporting as per applicable standards and customer requirements.

Major responsibilities

Sample Testing (Mechanical)

• Conduct various mechanical tests including:
• Tensile Testing
• Hardness Testing
• Impact (Charpy/Izod) & Dimensional Testing
• Pipe sample cutting, mounting, preparation, mirror polishing, Etching Process
• Ultrasonic Testing
• Metallography / Microstructure Analysis
• Optical microscope operation
• Evaluation of grain structure, phases, inclusions, defects and other metallurgical characteristics.
• Metallurgical analysis.
• NDT Testing.
• Ensure 100% testing completion with required accuracy.
• Record and report test results as per lab protocols.
• Knowledge of ASTM / ISO testing standards.
• Basic understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 .
• Test report preparation and laboratory documentation.
