Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or an equivalent discipline.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware, Windows/Linux, software installation, LAN/TCP-IP, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and check computer systems, peripherals, software, and internet connectivity before laboratory sessions.
• Install and update authorized operating systems, applications, programming tools, and antivirus software.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, printer, and network issues; escalated major faults to the IT team.
• Assist faculty during practicals, online examinations, workshops, and project demonstrations.
• Maintain inventory, usage registers, fault logs, and preventive maintenance records.
• Ensure safe use of equipment and compliance with institutional IT, cybersecurity, and software licensing policies.

COMPUTER LAB ASSISTANT

Job Purpose

To maintain the smooth functioning of computer laboratories and provide technical support to faculty and students during practical sessions, examinations, and other academic activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and check computer systems, peripherals, software, and internet connectivity before laboratory sessions.


• Install and update authorized operating systems, applications, programming tools, and antivirus software.


• Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, printer, and network issues; escalated major faults to the IT team.


• Assist faculty during practicals, online examinations, workshops, and project demonstrations.


• Maintain inventory, usage registers, fault logs, and preventive maintenance records.


• Ensure safe use of equipment and compliance with institutional IT, cybersecurity, and software licensing policies.

Qualifications and Skills

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or an equivalent discipline. Basic knowledge of computer hardware, Windows/Linux, software installation, LAN/TCP-IP, and troubleshooting. Relevant experience in an educational institution or IT support is desirable; freshers may be considered.

Key Performance Indicators

Laboratory readiness and uptime; timely resolution/escalation of faults; accurate inventory and maintenance records; and compliance with institutional policies.

Other Duties

Perform additional duties assigned by the HoD or authorized institutional authority, including support during examinations and institutional events.
