We are looking for an experienced L2 Network Engineer to join our team and help manage, maintain and optimise our enterprise network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will focus on switching/routing, WAN/LAN connectivity, firewalls, network monitoring and ensuring high availability and performance of the network.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, deploy and maintain network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls and load-balancers.
- Support LAN/WAN connectivity including site-to-site links, VPNs, and remote access.
- Monitor network performance, analyse traffic, perform capacity planning and ensure high availability.
- Troubleshoot escalated network issues (L2/L3) including routing, switching, VLANs, STP, BGP, OSPF.
- Implement network changes/upgrades and ensure minimal disruption to service.
- Assist in documenting network architecture, update topology diagrams and maintain configuration management.
- Work with security teams to enforce network security policies, access controls, and firewall configurations.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for network support, maintenance and upgrades.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics or related field.
- 4-6 years of hands-on experience in network engineering / administration (LAN/WAN, enterprise network environment).
- Strong knowledge of network protocols: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, STP, VLANs, 802.1Q, LACP, EtherChannel.
- Experience configuring and supporting routing protocols: OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, etc.
- Experience with enterprise switches/routers/firewalls from Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet or similar vendors.
- Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., SNMP, Wireshark, SolarWinds, PRTG, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to perform root-cause analysis of network incidents.
Preferred Skills
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or equivalent vendor certification.
- Experience with SD-WAN, MPLS, VPN architectures and datacentre networking.
- Familiarity with cloud network architectures and hybrid deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with network automation (Ansible, Python, Terraform) and infrastructure as code.
