Only candidates who have completed the prescribed educational qualification through a full-time regular course are eligible. Qualifications obtained through part-time, correspondence, distance education or online mode are not eligible.
Candidates must have completed 18 years of age. Candidates who have not completed 18 years are not eligible to apply for the apprenticeship.
The notification does not prescribe a separate upper age limit. Candidates must also satisfy the requirement that their final examination result for the prescribed qualification falls within five years from the closing date of application.
Selected apprentices will receive a prescribed monthly stipend according to their apprenticeship category.

The notification specifies that the Diploma Technician stipend of Rs. 10,900 and Graduate Apprentice stipend of Rs. 12,300 include the applicable DBT component. An additional Rs. 1,200 per month will be paid towards food/mess allowance.
The total tenure of apprenticeship training is one year from the date of joining. The apprenticeship training will be co-terminus with the completion of one year, and no further extension is permitted.
Selected apprentices are entitled to 12 days of Casual Leave on a pro-rata basis and 15 days of Medical Leave on medical grounds during the one-year apprenticeship period.
Candidates must satisfy the following conditions:
- The prescribed educational qualification must have been obtained through a full-time regular course.
- The candidate must have passed the final examination within five years from the closing date of application.
- The candidate must have completed 18 years of age.
- Candidates awaiting results of the final examination are not eligible.
- Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training in any organisation for any duration are not eligible.
- Candidates holding qualifications obtained through part-time, correspondence, distance education or online mode are not eligible.
- The required percentage of marks in the final examination must be mentioned in the final/consolidated marksheet.
- Where the percentage is not mentioned, a Percentage Certificate issued by the concerned institution/university must be produced.
- The required area of specialisation must be mentioned in the degree/diploma certificate, wherever applicable.
These conditions are specifically stated in the eligibility provisions of the KMRL notification.
