Job summary

McKinsey & Company in Gurugram (India) is hiring for the MineLens team to advance mining analytics and operational excellence. You’ll partner with client teams to diagnose processing facilities, run data-driven analyses, and help create value through new analytics products.

The role involves on-site and off-site work, with travel to remote mines as needed. The ideal candidate has a strong analytics background, relevant mining operations experience, and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or postgraduate in mineral processing/related engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in mineral processing operations.
• Strong understanding of mining industry dynamics.
• Passion for analytics and developing new data analysis approaches.
• Experience applying GenAI tools in work is a plus.
• Past success anchoring client engagements independently, with senior stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to remote mining locations.
• Open to international candidates willing to relocate to India.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English.

You will partner closely with client service teams on mining and mineral processing operations projects by providing expert client service in strategic and operational topics and contributing to new product development. You will demonstrate expert client service in mining, which includes running operational excellence diagnostics at mines and mineral processing plans to determine potential opportunities for transformation. You will assist clients in data collection, perform quantitative analysis, and incorporate qualitative observations into diagnostic reports. Additionally, you will participate in new product development of innovative approaches to processing data analytics and support consulting teams and clients, as required, to conduct analyses off-site and on-site. You will join our Client Capabilities Network in Gurugram (India) as part of our global MineLens team. MineLens is part of McKinsey’s Global Energy & Materials practice. MineLens provides mining companies with the strategic business intelligence they need to identify, quantify, and prioritize value creation opportunities in their operations. YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline
• 3+ years of work experience in mineral processing operations (experience in base and precious metal)
• Significant understanding of mining industry dynamics
• Passion for analytics and interest in developing new approaches to mineral processing data analysis and application to operational improvement
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with proficiency in tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, relevant mining software, and advanced analytics platforms
• Experience in applying Generative AI (GenAI) tools in current work to enhance analysis or decision-making is a plus
• Prior experience anchoring client engagements independently, with the ability to operate in senior client settings and present complex value propositions to executives
• Willingness to work in a demanding, results-driven team environment, with periodic travel to remote mining locations
• Open to candidates with international experience who are willing to relocate to India as well
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; additional language proficiency is a plus
