Job Summary
The Vendor Manager will oversee the organisation’s vendor relationships and procurement processes. This role is responsible for identifying, onboarding, managing, and evaluating vendors to ensure the delivery of high-quality goods and services. The Vendor Manager will collaborate with internal teams and vendors to negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and implement strategies to optimise the organization's supply chain and vendor partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate potential vendors based on quality, pricing, service, and reliability.
- Conduct due diligence, including vendor background checks, financial stability assessments, and compliance verifications.
- Negotiate favourable terms and conditions with vendors.
- Facilitate the vendor onboarding process, including documentation and system integration.
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, long-term vendor relationships to ensure effective collaboration.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the organisation and its vendors.
- Address and resolve any vendor-related issues or disputes promptly.
Performance Monitoring
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate vendor performance.
- Conduct regular performance reviews to ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
- Implement corrective action plans for underperforming vendors.
Procurement & Contract Management
- Work closely with procurement teams to align vendor services with organisational needs.
- Manage contract lifecycles, including renewals, amendments, and terminations.
- Ensure all contracts comply with legal and regulatory standards.
Cost Optimization & Strategic Planning
- Analyze and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Develop strategies to mitigate risks associated with vendor dependencies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align vendor strategies with business objectives.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure vendors comply with organizational policies, industry standards, and applicable laws.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with vendor relationships.
- Maintain accurate records of vendor contracts, agreements, and certifications.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Proven experience in vendor management, procurement, or supply chain management.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in vendor management tools, procurement software, and MS Office Suite.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex vendor-related challenges.
- Knowledge of contract law, compliance standards, and risk management principles.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), or equivalent.
- Experience in [specific industry, e.g., technology, healthcare, retail].
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
- Onsite.
- May require occasional travel for vendor site visits or conferences.
