Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Support RAMS process management across project phases and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct risk assessments using RAMS methodologies to identify hazards and safety risks.
  • Develop and review RAMS deliverables like safety plans and hazard logs; maintain documentation.
  • Collaborate with project teams, suppliers, operators, and authorities; participate in safety meetings.
  • Assist in safety testing and commissioning; review test plans for reliability and safety.
  • Provide updates on RAMS activities to project managers and stakeholders; communicate safety issues clearly.

RINA is currently recruiting for a Junior RAMS Engineer to join its office in Mumbai within the Electronics and System EngineeringDivision.

Mission

The railway RAMS Engineer is responsible for ensuring railway systems operate efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime. His role covers system performance evaluation, risk assessment, and compliance with international railway safety standards.

The successful candidate will join the RINA team as junior RAMS engineer in order to be part of national and international railway projects. His scope will be to support the RAM and Safety engineers during various stages of the railway system lifecycle, from design to operation and maintenance.

Key Accountabilities
  1. 1. Supporting RAMS Process Management:
    • - Support the implementation and coordination of RAMS processes across project phases.
    • - Ensure adherence to relevant regulations and standards in developing RAMS deliverables.
  2. 2. Conducting Risk Analysis and Assessment:
    • - Contribute to conducting risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential hazards and safety risks.
    • - Utilize RAMS methodologies such as FMECA, event tree analysis, and fault tree analysis to assess risk impacts.
  3. 3. Managing Documentation and Deliverables:
    • - Contribute to the development and review of key RAMS deliverables like safety plans and hazard logs.
    • - Maintain accurate documentation throughout project phases.
  4. 4. Collaborating with Stakeholders:
    • - Work closely with project teams, suppliers, operators, and relevant authorities.
    • - Participate in safety-related meetings and coordinate safety efforts.
  5. 5. Testing and Commissioning:
    • - Contribute to ensuring safety requirements are met during the testing and commissioning phases.
    • - Review and assess test plans to validate system reliability and safety.
  6. 6. Reporting and Communication:
    • - Provide updates on RAMS activities to project managers and stakeholders.
    • - Communicate safety-related issues and recommendations effectively.
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering General or Mechanical Engineering

Qualifications
  • - At least 1 year of experience in RAMS for railway systems
  • - Knowledge of the Railway Sector
  • - Understanding of functional safety principles in engineering projects, with a willingness to learn and develop expertise.
  • - Interest in railway industry regulations and safety standards.
  • - Awareness of safety processes and relevant authorities, such as ERA.
  • - Basic knowledge of RAMS concepts, with a willingness to gain proficiency in the related process and tools.
  • - International standards: EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, IEC 61508
