Senior System RAMS Engineer — Bangalore, India

Job Description
The Senior System RAMS Engineer coordinates the project and Product RAMS activities with SRS Business Segment RAMS to ensure that solutions—whether for testing or deployment—are safe for their intended scope and purpose. The role demonstrates compliance with relevant processes, policies, legislation, standards, and regulations.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure delivery of transportation solution systems in compliance with RAMS guidelines and quality standards, and in accordance with time, budget, and constraints.
- Ensure execution of the RAMS activities through participation in projects, bidding, and delivery phases: System RAMS planning, preliminary RAMS project analyses, and early feedback to the project team from early phases (frontloading).
- Attend design reviews with suppliers and RAMS field tests.
- Ensure Safety Case development and RAM parameters performance demonstration.
- Deliver project RAMS analysis and documents at system and subsystem level in cooperation with other technology functions, Operation & Maintenance and external suppliers.
- Provide technical support to RAMS Managers for management and interface with Independent Safety Assessor, Employer and External Authorities.
- Ensure that subsystem suppliers receive unambiguous RAMS requirements and minimize supplier turnaround time for subsystem RAMS analysis and V&V evidence.
- Develop, improve and implement System RAMS standard processes.
- Provide schedule and cost progress information to the relevant RAMS Manager.
- Supply RAMS requirements, if any, and the Hazard Log to the relevant Product and Signalling RAMS Engineers.
- Prepare and present the Project RAMS Management Dashboard to management on a regular basis, monitor technical safety KPIs, and proactively manage the closure of actions.
- Support capitalization activities for the project and department, and capture Lessons Learned.
Key Experience Preferred
- Knowledge of railway signaling systems, train control systems, fixed and moving block signaling principles, relay‑based and/or computer‑based interlocking design.
- Extensive experience with safety standards (CENELEC, IEC, IEEE, MIL), best practices, safety methods and techniques (HAZID, HAZOP, PHA, SHA, OSHA, FTA, FMEA/FMECA, FSA) and hazard management.
- Working knowledge of Communications‑Based Train Control (CBTC) and/or Interlocking system.
Education / Qualifications Preferred
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) / Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or a Business domain with demonstrated technical experience.
- Minimum 5–10 years of RAMS experience in Signalling and train control systems or automation in other industries such as aerospace, defense, automotive, medical or nuclear.
- Good understanding of systems engineering, software engineering, and functional safety.
- Detailed knowledge of system safety lifecycle, safety design concepts and risk analysis.
- Demonstrated experience with System Safety, Validation, Safety Planning, Safety Approval and Certification, RAMS Engineering, Software Safety Assessment, Hazard Management, Safety Case.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate technical staff.
- Strong MS Office skills and Project Management tools & software.
- Good technical writing skills, excellent communication and analytical skills; excellent command of the English language and local language, both written and oral.
