Job summary

Hindalco Industries is seeking a Junior Engineer Production to support daily manufacturing operations with focus on VMC and CNC machining. The role emphasizes safe, efficient, and quality-driven production, contributing to OE and TPM objectives.

The incumbent will assist in machine setup, monitor parameters for accuracy and finish, and uphold ISO/IATF quality requirements while maintaining proper documentation and contributing to continuous improvement on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Diploma in mechanical engineering or relevant technical diploma.
• Experience with VMC/CNC operations preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO/IATF quality requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate and support VMC and CNC machines according to production plan.
• Assist in machine setup, tool changes, and loading/unloading of jobs.
• Monitor machining parameters to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Follow SOPs, work instructions, and control plans.
• Aiming to achieve daily production targets with minimal rejects and downtime.
• Maintain production, quality, and TPM related records.
• Support audits and participate in OE/Kaizen/Lean initiatives.

Role & responsibilities

The Junior Engineer Production is responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations with a focus on VMC and CNC machining, ensuring safe, efficient, and quality-driven production. The role actively contributes to Operational Excellence (OE) initiatives and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to improve productivity, quality, and equipment reliability.

Preferred candidate profile

1. Production Operations (VMC & CNC)

• Operate and support VMC and CNC machines as per production plan.
• Assist in machine setup, tool change, and job loading/unloading.
• Monitor machining parameters to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Ensure adherence to work instructions, SOPs, and control plans.
• Achieve daily production targets with minimum rejection and downtime.

2. Quality Assurance

• Conduct inprocess and final inspection using measuring instruments (vernier, micrometre, height gauge, etc.).
• Identify, report, and support resolution of quality defects.
• Ensure compliance with ISO / IATF / customer-specific quality requirements (as applicable).
• Support root cause analysis for rejections using basic quality tools.

3. TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)

• Perform Autonomous Maintenance (AM) activities such as:
  • Cleaning, lubrication, and inspection
  • Daily machine health checks
• Support maintenance team during planned maintenance and breakdowns.
• Participate in TPM pillars like AM, PM, and Focused Improvement (FI).
• Help maintain machine-wise OEE and breakdown records.

4. Operational Excellence (OE) & Continuous Improvement

• Participate in OE / Kaizen / Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
• Identify and implement small improvement ideas to reduce waste (Muda).
• Support 5S implementation and sustenance on shop floor.
• Assist in productivity, cycle time, and setup time reduction projects.

5. Safety & Housekeeping

• Strictly follow safety guidelines and PPE requirements.
• Report unsafe conditions and near-miss incidents.
• Maintain 5S standards in work area.
• Ensure compliance with company EHS policies.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain production, quality, and TPM-related records.
• Update shift reports, rejection data, and downtime details.
• Support audits (internal, customer, TPM, safety).
