Job Summary
Position Title/Designation: Junior Design Engineer - Marine Engineering
Work Location: Coimbatore or Hyderabad
Preferred Institutions: Andhra University (AUCE), Visakhapatnam; VELS University, Chennai; IMU University (Indian Maritime University) Campus Locations (Visakhapatnam / Chennai / Kolkata); AMET University; SVCE, Chennai; Praveenya University, Vizianagaram.
We are looking for Marine Engineering Freshers specifically interested in Ship Outfitting design and Execution. This is an Engineering Role (Working from office). Kindly ignore if you are looking for sailing crew or vessel support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a design brief with all information required for commencement of designing.
- Prepare a list of specific tasks required for designing requirements across various marine systems design phases.
- Communicate with clients, peers, superiors and subordinates in respectful form and manner in line with organizational protocol.
- Weekly reporting of efforts, deliverables, client meetings.
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to make 2D schematics for marine systems and their operation.
- CADMATTIC OUTFITTING software experience.
- Mechanical engineering of piping, structures, duct systems.
- Review the layout or general arrangement of the platform/vessel for system design.
- Understand and work on preliminary schematic diagram of the system.
- Identify secondary equipment required for the system.
- Perform calculations to finalize the specifications of primary and secondary equipment (capacity, size, materials).
- Modify design and equipment specifications; review of 3D models of marine systems.
Essential Skill Set
- Hands on experience managing complete existing product development activities (cost out, quality and product obsolescence) for product-based organizations.
- Good experience on existing product development process and working with remote teams.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience in vendor qualification, developing manufacturing quality plan, tooling and component qualification, and thorough understanding of PPAP process.
Desirable Skill Set
- Excellent organizational skills required to manage small and large projects.
- Ability to apply engineering principles and practices in the design, development, and verification of possible solutions.
- Ability to develop design concepts and turn them into finished/product launch.
- Mechanical design knowledge ranging from component design to system level.
- Knowledge on either one of the following processes:
- Value engineering methodologies and how to apply them.
- Quality project execution and standards such as risk assessment, root cause analysis procedures, DFMEA, PFMEA, ISO, etc.
- Obsolescence management.
- Knowledge of DFM & DFA with respect to ease of manufacture and assembly.
- Oversee testing and analysis of products to determine product performance.
- Knowledge of various fabrication methods for the manufacturing of metal and plastic parts – machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and injection molding.
- Skilled in 3D modeling software (SolidWorks) is preferred.
