Rajiv Gandhi Aviation (RGAA) invites a Junior Aerospace Conceptual Design & CAD Engineer to join our Hyderabad team, focusing on an advanced fixed-wing UAV platform. You will move from initial sizing through master CAD, systems packaging, structural layout and prototype realization.

The role emphasizes design-from-first-principles, open‑misted in OpenVSP/AVL/XFLR5 with CAD in SolidWorks/CATIA, and collaboration with vendors for prototypes.

Qualifications

• Strong fundamentals in fixed-wing design, aerodynamics, performance, stability and CG.
• Hands-on with conceptual design tools such as OpenVSP, AVL or XFLR5.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or CATIA for master CAD and packaging.

Responsabilités

Rajiv Gandhi Aviation (RGAA) is hiring a Junior Aerospace Conceptual Design & CAD Engineer to work on the development of an advanced fixed-wing UAV platform in Hyderabad.

This is an aircraft design and prototyping role, not a generic CAD position. The selected engineer will work across the development cycle from initial aircraft sizing and aerodynamic iteration through master CAD, systems packaging, structural layout and prototype realization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Translate aircraft requirements such as range, payload, endurance and launch constraints into preliminary aircraft sizing parameters.
• Develop weight buildups, fuel estimates, wing loading and aircraft performance calculations.
• Perform conceptual aerodynamic design and configuration studies using OpenVSP, AVL, XFLR5, ANSYS Fluent or equivalent tools.
• Evaluate lift, drag, L/D ratio, stability and aerodynamic efficiency across candidate aircraft configurations.
• Develop and maintain the aircraft master 3D CAD assembly using SolidWorks, CATIA or equivalent software.
• Package propulsion, fuel, payload, avionics and other aircraft systems while managing space, weight and Centre of Gravity constraints.
• Perform weight & balance and CG tracking across different loading and fuel conditions.
• Support design of primary structural elements including spars, ribs, bulkheads and major load paths.
• Generate manufacturing drawings and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Coordinate with vendors for composites, machining, 3D printing and prototype manufacturing.
• Support prototype assembly, ground testing, design reviews and iterative aircraft improvements.
• Document engineering calculations, assumptions, simulations and design decisions clearly.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Fresh graduates and candidates with up to 2 years of relevant experience are welcome.
• Strong fundamentals in fixed-wing aircraft design, aerodynamics, aircraft performance, stability, weight & balance and Centre of Gravity.
• Hands-on exposure to OpenVSP, AVL, XFLR5 or similar conceptual aircraft design tools.
• Good proficiency in SolidWorks, CATIA or equivalent CAD software.
• Ability to approach aircraft sizing and performance problems from first principles rather than relying entirely on black-box software.
• Strong interest in taking engineering work from calculations and simulation into physical prototype hardware.

YOU WILL STAND OUT IF YOU HAVE

• Personally designed or built a fixed-wing UAV or RC aircraft.
• Led or significantly contributed to an SAE Aero, DBF or university UAV project.
• Built aircraft sizing or performance calculations yourself.
• Taken a design from calculations to CAD, simulation and manufactured hardware.
• Experience solving real-world manufacturing, packaging or integration problems.
• A portfolio containing OpenVSP/AVL studies, CAD models, CFD work, aircraft design reports or physical prototypes.
