Job summary

Speed Global in Pune, India, seeks a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for UAV/aerospace components, and to support lightweight structures using aluminum, composites, and plastics.

You will collaborate with CAE and manufacturing teams, implement design changes from reviews, and help maintain models, BOMs, and drawings while ensuring interfaces and assembly requirements are met.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years in mechanical design and product development.
• BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automobile, or related Engineering.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and strength of materials.
• Proficiency in CATIA or Creo for 3D modeling and drafting.
• Knowledge of GD&T, fits and tolerances; ability to read drawings.
• Experience with component and assembly design; product development processes.
• Exposure to CAE-driven design development and design optimization concepts.
• Effective communication and teamwork in cross-functional environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D CAD models for mechanical components and assemblies.
• Prepare and update 2D drawings with dimensions, tolerances, fits, and GD&T.

• Perform basic engineering calculations related to strength and sizing.

• Assist in prototype development, manufacturing support, and product realization.
• Coordinate with manufacturing teams and suppliers to resolve issues.

Skill & Experience Required:

• 2 to 4 Years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automobile, or related Engineering disciplines.
• Strong understanding of Mechanical Design fundamentals and Strength of Materials.
• Proficiency in CATIA or Creo for 3D modeling and drafting.
• Good knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, fits, and tolerances.
• Experience in component and assembly design for engineered products.
• Basic understanding of product development and design release processes.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, and composite manufacturing.
• Understanding of material selection and material behavior for engineering applications.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, standards, and technical specifications.
• Basic understanding of structural design principles, load paths, and stiffness requirements.
• Familiarity with engineering calculations and design validation activities.
• Exposure to CAE-driven design development and design optimization concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional product development environment.
• Preferred Skills:
• Experience in UAV, Aerospace, Automotive, or lightweight engineering product development.
• Basic understanding of UAV/drone architecture and mechanical subsystems.
