The role encompasses project ownership from opportunity identification and evaluation, through trials supervision and bid management, to post-contract execution and delivery governance.

The position provides leadership across multiple concurrent projects, ensures alignment with organisational strategy, and serves as the central authority for coordination among customers, OEMs, internal teams, and external stakeholders. The role focuses on governance, decision‑making, risk management, and delivery assurance rather than hands‑on execution.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Project & Opportunity Ownership
  • Provide overall ownership and direction for new projects from pre‑bid stage through contract execution.
  • Oversee new business opportunities to ensure structured identification, mapping, and prioritisation of upcoming defence and aerospace projects, supported by systematic monitoring of MoD, Services, DPSU, and defence procurement portals for RFIs/RFPs and upcoming programmes. Service‑specific opportunities and domain inputs shall be provided by the respective Account Holders for the three Services, enabling consolidated assessment and informed bid strategy
2. Bid Management & Contracting Oversight
  • Lead and govern bid management activities from pre‑RFP engagement to bid submission and contract award.
  • Oversee preparation and integration of technical, commercial, legal, and compliance inputs for bids.
  • Ensure internal alignment, timely approvals, and adherence to organisational and customer requirements.
3. Supervision of Trials, Demonstrations & Technical Evaluations
  • Provide strategic supervision for planning and execution of trials, demonstrations, and technical evaluations with customer agencies.
  • Ensure effective coordination between OEMs, internal technical teams, and customer stakeholders for trial readiness and successful outcomes.
  • Monitor progress, risks, and dependencies during trial phases and intervene at leadership level where required.
4. Post‑Contract Project Governance & Delivery Assurance
  • Assume overall responsibility for projects post contract award, ensuring a smooth transition from bidding to execution.
  • Provide governance oversight on project planning, milestones, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Monitor execution progress across supply chain, technical, logistics, and support teams, ensuring timely delivery and issue resolution.
5. Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Leadership
  • Act as the primary leadership interface with armed forces, DRDO, DPSUs, OEMs, and strategic partners for assigned projects.
  • Drive alignment and coordination across internal functions including operations, projects, finance, legal, logistics, and technical teams.
  • Escalate and resolve cross‑functional issues impacting project outcomes.
  • Establish structured review mechanisms for opportunity tracking, bid progress, and project execution.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks at strategic and execution levels.
  • Provide regular status updates, risk assessments, and decision inputs to senior management.
7. Process Strengthening & Organisational Enablement
  • Strengthen institutional processes for business opportunity tracking, project governance, and execution monitoring.
  • Support capability building within project and opportunity management teams.
  • Contribute to long‑term organisational growth by institutionalising best practices in defence project management.
Skill Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of defence procurement, trials, and project execution frameworks.
  • Proven capability to manage multiple complex projects with high stakeholder density.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Ability to operate at strategic and governance levels while ensuring execution alignment.
  • Experience in interfacing with armed forces, DRDO, DPSUs, OEMs, and industry partners.
