Job summary

Kay Jay Forgings Pvt Ltd. is seeking a fixture design engineer to design jigs, fixtures, gauges and tooling for forged and machined components. The role focuses on fixtures for CNC Turning, VMC, drilling, milling, tapping, boring and grinding operations.

The engineer will read drawings, apply GD&T, develop 3D models and 2D drawings, and coordinate with cross-functional teams on shop-floor trials and improvements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
• Experience applying 3-2-1 locating principles.
• Proficiency in interpreting drawings and creating 3D models.
• Ability to prepare 2D manufacturing drawings and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret component, forging and machining drawings.
• Apply 3-2-1 locating principles, GD&T, tolerance stack-up and proper clamping concepts.
• Design manual, hydraulic and pneumatic clamping arrangements.
• Prepare 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, assemblies and BOMs.
• Select suitable standard components, materials and locating/clamping elements.
• Support fixture manufacturing, assembly, trials and prove-out on the shop floor.
• Troubleshoot fixture-related issues such as component movement, vibration, misalignment and repeatability.
• Coordinate with Production, Tool Room, Quality, Forging and CNC Programming teams.
• Implement improvements to reduce setup time, rejection, rework and tooling cost.
