Job summary

Newgen seeks an experienced Software Engineer to develop and install Java-based software solutions for banking projects. You will design, implement, and deliver high-quality modules in JAVA, SQL/Oracle and J2EE, partnering with stakeholders to meet timelines and quality standards.

The role involves detailed design, coding, reviews, testing, and documentation. You will ensure adherence to Newgen quality processes and collaborate across teams to drive project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering or equivalent in CS/IT/MCA with 6–8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in Banking domains (CLOS, Lending, LMS, CCM, Account opening) is preferred.
• Knowledge of SOAP/REST API, multithreading, and data structures.
• Strong Core Java, JSP, Servlets, EJB, Oracle/SQL knowledge.
• Banking retail loan and MSB is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design, coding, code reviews, unit testing, system testing and deployment.
• Prepare software design documents, test plans and installation/deployment guides.
• Ensure adherence to coding guidelines and system integration requirements.
• Develop and document software solutions, flowcharts, layouts, and diagrams.
• Maintain confidentiality and manage stakeholder expectations.

The incumbent would be responsible for:

• Developing and installing software solutions.
• Designing, implementing and delivering high quality Software project in JAVA, SQL / Oracle, J2EE and other JAVA technologies.

Job Responsibility

Participate in detailed level in design, coding, code walk through, peer code reviews and unit testing, System Testing, UAT, Demos, POCs, installation, maintenance of Software modules. # Ensures the preparation in the following:

• Software Prototype, System Architecture, Software Design Document User interfaces to be developed as per UX guidelines
• Code files ensuring coding guidelines followed, Code review artefacts during peer code review
• Test plan and Test Cases
• Installation / Deployment document
• Release Document & Technical Documentation

Documents& demonstrates solutions by developing documentations, flowcharts, layouts, diagram, charts, code;

• Ensuring that project task are completed in defined effort and timelines
• Prepares & installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards & programming.
• Testing: Writing of test cases, unit testing, system testing, negative testing q Trouble shooting: Log analysis and database query optimization q Improves operations by conducting system's analysis.
• Updates job knowledge by studying state of the art development tools, programming techniques & computing equipment; participates in educational opportunities, reads professional publications & maintained personal networks.
• Protects operations by keeping information confidential.
• Provides information by collecting, analysing, summarizing development & service issues.
• Develops software solution by studying information needs, conferring with users, studding system flow, data usage & work processes, investigating problem areas, following delivery cycle.

Desired Profile

• B.E/B. Tech. - CS/ IT/ MCA, M. Tech or Equivalent degree from a reputed institute preferred, with 6-8 years of relevant industry experience across a wide variety of development projects.
• Experience in Banking (CLOS, Lending, Loan Management Systems (LMS), CCM, Account opening), Trade Finance, Insurance/PAS domain is preferred.
• Knowledge of SOAP/Rest API, Multithreading, Web Application concepts, Program/Logic writing, Data structure.
• Good experience on Core Java, JSP, Servlets, EJB, Oracle/SQL
• Banking retail loan and MSB is an advantage.
• Database knowledge of table, stored procedure, functions, can write queries, primary key, unique key, joins, referential integrity, and normalization, performance tuning.
• Should possess advanced knowledge of system integration issues & configurable solution design.
• Ability to gather and analyze data and draw logical conclusions.
• Understanding the companys vision and goals, business operations and market.
• Is adept in stakeholder management and possess the ability to coordinate and prioritize customer requests with the assistance of other managers to ensure customer delight.
• Possess good people management skills and can manage performance and disciplinary issues, handle employee complaints and grievances and recommend the hiring, termination, and promotion of staff; Should be able to train, mentor, motivate and lead a successful team. Should be well versed in attrition related issues and case management.
