Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services Limited in Chennai invites a senior backend leader to drive design and delivery of scalable microservices. Based at Ozone Techno Park, 24 Rajiv Gandhi Salai, Navalur, Chennai, this on-site role offers a leadership path in a fast-paced project environment.

You will own Java 8+, Spring Boot, Quarkus, REST APIs, Kafka, Docker and Kubernetes implementations, while mentoring teams and ensuring quality through Agile, CI/CD and cloud-native practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the features delivered are fit for purpose and meet the required quality standards according to client expectations, including build, unit testing and deployment.
• At this leadership role, blend deep domain and technical expertise within a feature team while demonstrating a strong passion for coaching and developing people in a player-coach capacity.
• Work hands-on alongside engineering colleagues to deliver high-quality, customer-driven software.
• Work in a fast-paced Agile environment and collaborate closely with the team to complete assigned work, demonstrate progress and address well-defined, complex and often non-routine problems.
• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and microservices using Java, Spring Boot and Quarkus.
• Strong hands-on backend development experience with Java 8+, Spring, Spring Boot and Quarkus.
• Experience developing REST APIs and microservices using Spring Boot and/or Quarkus.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Experience building and deploying microservices using Docker, Helm and Kubernetes (K8s) configurations.
• Strong knowledge of BDD/TDD and JUnit.
• Strong understanding of the complete software development lifecycle.
• Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, Sonar and Docker.
• Significant experience with Agile development methodologies and tools, including Scrum, Jira and Confluence.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Experience with GCP and cloud-native application development.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture.
• Experience and understanding of API gateways.
