Job summary

Litmus7 Systems Consulting is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to guide a 7-member offshore team and manage a high-throughput microservices platform. The role combines hands-on coding with leadership to ensure reliability, performance, and scalable architecture.

The candidate will own availability, coordinate with SRE, infra, and DB teams, and drive architectural decisions for peak-season traffic while mentoring engineers and managing on-call incidents via PagerDuty.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Java and Spring technologies in large-scale production systems.
• Experience leading an offshore engineering team and coordinating across SRE, infrastructure, and database groups.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and scalable design.
• Experience with incident response and on-call rotations (PagerDuty) is desirable.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to lead a team responsible for a business-critical, high throughput microservices platform. The Engineering Lead will be responsible for leading the engineering team while remaining technically hands-on and accountable for the reliability and performance of the platform.

Candidate has to be willing to work in a platform support role and be on an on-call (PagerDuty) rotation to respond to high priority incidents.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor an offshore engineering team of approximately 7 engineers, providing technical leadership, coaching, and career development.
• Own the availability, reliability, scalability, and performance of the microservices platform.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and database technologies.
• Drive architecture and design decisions to ensure the platform can scale reliably during extreme peak-season traffic and order volumes.
• Lead high-severity production incidents and coordinate engineering, SRE, infrastructure, database, and business teams during critical events.

Technical Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, JPA2, and Hibernate.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture, including service communication, asynchronous processing, concurrency, scalability, resiliency, and failure handling.
• Strong application and database debugging and performance optimization experience in large-scale production environments.
• Strong experience with Java performance profiling, including thread dumps, heap dumps, memory analysis, CPU profiling, garbage collection, deadlocks, and thread contention.
• Strong experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, or equivalent tools.
• Good knowledge of Developer Tools, Fiddler, Wireshark, and network/traffic analysis.
• Experience with cloud and edge platforms such as Azure Portal, Akamai, and Kasada is desirable.
• Experience working with AI tools would be a plus
