Job summary

Persistent is seeking an experienced Java Lead (IAM) to provide strong technical leadership, oversee development and deployments, and work closely with clients. The role requires hands-on Java, Spring Boot, and microservices expertise, with a focus on scalable architecture and high-quality deliveries.

You will guide a team, review code, and ensure security and performance while collaborating with stakeholders. On-site presence in Bengaluru is expected for the majority of the work week.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Core Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Experience in production deployments, release management, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Good understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering for AI-assisted development and productivity.
• Strong leadership and client-facing communication skills.

About Position:

We are seeking an experienced Java Lead to provide strong technical leadership, drive high-quality development, and oversee production deployments. This role involves frequent client interaction and requires on-site presence for the majority of the work week. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on knowledge of prompt engineering to effectively utilize AI tools for improving development productivity and code quality.

What You'll Do:

• Lead a team of Java developers, guiding them on design, development, and best engineering practices. Architect, design, and develop scalable Java-based solutions.


• Oversee and manage production deployments, ensuring seamless releases and quick resolution of deployment issues.


• Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and security practices.


• Collaborate closely with client stakeholders, product owners, and cross-functional teams.


• Design, architect, and implement reusable frameworks/components for enterprise-grade Java applications, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.


• Utilize AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) through effective prompt engineering to enhance development speed, code generation, debugging, and documentation.


• Identify technical risks and propose solutions proactively.


• Drive continuous improvement in development processes, automation, and team efficiency.


• Mentor and upskill junior developers.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Strong hands‑on experience in Core Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, Microservices, and backend architecture.


• Proven expertise in production deployment, release management, and working with CI/CD pipelines.


• Experience in performance tuning, debugging, and resolving production issues.


• Good understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP preferred).


• Experience in prompt engineering and using AI tools to enhance development workflows.


• Excellent leadership, communication, and client‑facing skills.


• Ability to work independently and manage deliverables in a client-driven environment.


• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).


• Exposure to event‑driven systems (Kafka, Debezium, etc.).


• Knowledge of DevOps practices and automation tools.


• Educational background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent practical experience
