Job summary

Botmet is seeking a seasoned Java backend engineer to design and implement scalable microservices, APIs, and data models for cloud environments. You will contribute to architecture discussions, enforce coding standards, and deliver robust backend systems.

You will collaborate with frontend teams for seamless integrations, drive API quality with TDD, and mentor peers while maintaining operational excellence in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant backend experience with Java and Spring.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures and TDD.
• Experience with OAuth2, SSO, cloud platforms and microservices.

Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in defining software architectures by collaborating with technical leads to explore existing systems, determine areas of complexity, identify potential risks, and understand application capabilities.
• Define and communicate technical design requirements.
• Collaborate with frontend web and mobile developers for backend integrations.
• Develop software applications using Java and related technologies, including designing and implementing APIs, databases, data models, and business logic while following coding standards and best practices.
• Maintain and enhance distributed applications.
• Optimize backend system performance and code quality.
• Maintain and enhance REST APIs using a microservices style and create well-structured and documented APIs that follow industry best practices.
• Build and maintain integration modules between backend systems and external systems.
• Build a healthy team environment through professional collaboration.
• Troubleshoot and debug applications in production and development environments.
• Stay up to date with current best practices and emerging technologies and contribute to continuous improvements in backend systems.

REQUIREMENTS

• QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding and working knowledge of basic Algorithms and Data Structures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Very good understanding and experience with authentication-based systems such as OAuth2, SSO, and Azure AD.
• Basic understanding of Cryptography.
• Exceptional experience and working knowledge of Java technologies and Spring Framework.
• Good understanding of Microservices Design, Object-Oriented Programming, and Service-Oriented Architecture.
• Experience implementing Microservices using Kubernetes, Docker, Java Spring Framework, JPA, PL/SQL, and databases such as MySQL, Oracle, and MS SQL.
• Experience with Java frameworks and libraries commonly used in backend development, such as Spring, JPA, Hibernate, Apache Kafka, or JAX-RS.
• Experience developing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and deploying backend applications on cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS.
• Well-versed in cloud solutions covering computing, storage, databases, identity, security, networking, access and permissions, application hosting, application monitoring, logging, scaling, and availability.
• Experience writing complex SQL queries, procedures, and functions.
• Experience with Docker containers and build and deployment in a container environment.
• Experience with SQL, NoSQL, and database systems.
• Detailed knowledge of the JVM platform.
• Comfortable working with the Linux command-line interface.
• Experience working with Git in a CI/CD environment.
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of Continuous Integration practices.
