The Java Backend Lead will translate business requirements into technical solutions, guide development activities, resolve technical issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support innovation. - Java: Extensive knowledge of Java programming and related technologies; experience developing and maintaining Java-based applications and systems.
- Spring Boot: Hands‑on experience developing backend applications and services using Spring Boot.
- Microservices: Practical experience designing, developing, integrating, and supporting microservices‑based applications.
- RESTful services: Experience designing, developing, consuming, and maintaining REST APIs.
- Databases: Experience working with databases, data access, SQL, transactions, queries, and database integration.
- Cloud computing: Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and their application to Java and microservices solutions.
- Agile and Scrum: Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
- Development versions: Experience working with the Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST, database, cloud, and development tool versions used by the assigned Synechron project.
- Experience with multiple Spring modules and persistence technologies.
- Familiarity with containerized microservices and orchestration platforms.
- Experience with API documentation, service monitoring, centralized logging, and application performance tools.
- Knowledge of automated testing, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and deployment automation.
- Familiarity with event‑driven architecture, messaging systems, or distributed application patterns.
- Advanced certification in Java development or a related technology discipline.
- Equivalent tools and technologies may be considered where they provide comparable capabilities.
- Lead a team of Java developers and support high-quality software delivery. Provide technical direction, mentoring, task guidance, and code‑review support to Java development team members. Develop and maintain Java‑based applications and systems. Design and implement scalable, efficient, secure, and maintainable Java solutions that meet business requirements. Develop and maintain Spring Boot applications, microservices, REST APIs, and database integrations. Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical designs, implementation plans, and deliverable software. Establish and promote appropriate coding, testing, documentation, deployment, and support practices. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve technical issues and drive innovation. Review technical designs and implementation approaches for scalability, performance, reliability, maintainability, and security. Troubleshoot and resolve application, integration, database, deployment, and performance issues in a timely manner. Participate in Agile and Scrum ceremonies, including planning, estimation, reviews, retrospectives, and delivery discussions. Support the delivery of Java‑based solutions for large enterprise environments. Evaluate and recommend new technologies, patterns, and development practices that align with business and technical objectives. Support sustainable software practices by encouraging reusable components, efficient processing, maintainable services, and responsible use of infrastructure resources. Ensure delivery outcomes meet agreed requirements for quality, security, performance, reliability, and timelines.
Extensive knowledge of Java programming. Experience developing enterprise Java applications and backend systems. Understanding of object‑oriented programming, exception handling, collections, concurrency, and maintainable code practices. Ability to write scalable, testable, readable, and maintainable Java code.
Familiarity with additional programming languages used for automation, integration, or cloud‑native development. Experience with scripting for deployment, testing, monitoring, or operational support. Knowledge of modern Java language features relevant to the assigned project.
Experience integrating Java and Spring Boot applications with databases. Understanding of SQL, data modelling, tables, relationships, indexes, transactions, and query performance. Ability to design and review data‑access solutions for microservices and enterprise applications. Experience troubleshooting database‑related application issues.
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases. Familiarity with database optimization, schema migration, caching, transaction management, and data consistency. Understanding of data ownership and persistence considerations in microservices architecture.
Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and infrastructure. Understanding of how cloud environments support application deployment, scalability, availability, monitoring, and resilience. Ability to collaborate with cloud and infrastructure teams to support Java and microservices solutions.
Experience deploying and supporting Java or Spring Boot services in cloud environments. Familiarity with containers, orchestration, configuration management, service discovery, and cloud monitoring. Awareness of resource‑efficient architecture and cloud cost considerations.
Strong experience with Spring Boot . Experience designing and developing microservices. Experience developing and integrating RESTful web services. Understanding of dependency injection, configuration management, service‑layer design, and application integration. Experience with appropriate database‑access and persistence technologies.
Familiarity with additional Spring modules and enterprise integration libraries. Experience with API gateways, resilience patterns, service discovery, distributed tracing, or asynchronous processing. Exposure to messaging, event‑driven architecture, or distributed systems.
Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies. Experience with software development lifecycle activities, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support. Experience with code reviews, source control, defect resolution, technical documentation, and release processes. Ability to lead technical discussions and support consistent engineering practices. Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver enterprise software solutions.
Familiarity with continuous integration, continuous delivery, automated testing, build tools, and deployment pipelines. Experience with Git or equivalent source‑control systems. Knowledge of application monitoring, centralized logging, code‑quality analysis, and performance testing tools. Experience with technical estimation, delivery planning, risk management, and process improvement.
Understanding of secure software development practices for Java applications, REST APIs, databases, and microservices. Awareness of authentication, authorization, input validation, secure configuration, and protection of sensitive data. Ability to identify and address security risks in application design and implementation. Understanding of secure communication between services.
Familiarity with API security, token‑based authentication, encryption, secrets management, and access control. Experience applying security, privacy, compliance, and audit requirements in enterprise applications. Knowledge of secure cloud deployment practices.

Candidates may also qualify through equivalent combinations of Java development, backend engineering, technical leadership, solution design, microservices development, or enterprise application delivery experience that demonstrate the required capabilities and outcomes.
Lead and mentor a team of Java developers, review technical work, assign development priorities, and support consistent delivery practices. Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and database technologies. Advanced certification in Java development or a related technical discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
