Persistent Systems is seeking a Java Architect focused on security to define secure, scalable Java-based microservices. You will drive authentication via OAuth and JWT, establish security standards, and guide engineering teams through solution design and implementation.

The role requires deep Java/Spring Boot expertise, experience with enterprise microservices, and a strong emphasis on security, scalability, and observability across distributed systems.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot architecture and development.
• Proven expertise in designing enterprise microservices architectures.
• Deep understanding of OAuth-based authentication and authorization flows.
• Experience implementing and validating JSON Web Tokens (JWT) in distributed applications.
• Knowledge of API security, identity integration, and RBAC patterns.
• Ability to lead architecture reviews and mentor engineering teams.

The Java Architect - Security will be responsible for defining and delivering secure, scalable, and resilient Java-based microservices architectures. The role requires strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, OAuth, and JSON Web Token (JWT), along with the ability to establish security standards and guide engineering teams through solution design and implementation.

What You'll Do:

• Define the end-to-end architecture for secure, scalable, and highly available Java-based microservices applications.
• Design and govern authentication and authorisation solutions using OAuth and JSON Web Token (JWT).
• Establish architecture principles, coding standards, reusable patterns, and security best practices for Java and Spring Boot services.
• Lead technical design reviews and provide architecture guidance to development and engineering teams.
• Design secure REST APIs and service-to-service communication patterns across distributed systems.
• Ensure appropriate implementation of token validation, access control, session handling, secrets management, and secure configuration practices.
• Identify application security risks and collaborate with security, infrastructure, DevOps, and delivery teams on remediation plans.
• Guide performance optimisation, resiliency, observability, and scalability of microservices-based solutions.
• Support solution estimation, technical planning, dependency management, and delivery governance.
• Mentor development teams and drive continuous improvement through architecture reviews, technical documentation, and engineering best practices.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Strong hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot application architecture and development.
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing enterprise microservices architectures.
• Deep understanding of OAuth-based authentication and authorisation flows.
