Job summary

Plivo in Bengaluru seeks an IT Systems & Automation Engineer to own and automate the internal technology platform spanning identity, endpoints, VPN, and the SaaS stack. You will script, integrate, and lead migrations with minimal disruption, applying modern AI tools to move faster.

You will manage diverse OS environments, strengthen security, and drive incident response, with a proactive ownership mindset and strong networking, scripting, and cloud IAM skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in IT systems administration, corporate IT, or security engineering.
• Strong hands-on Linux, macOS, Windows administration, virtualization, storage, and backup.
• Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VPN.
• Proven migration experience: move users/data with planning, cutover, validation, rollback.
• IAM experience with SSO/SAML, directory services, MDM, and secret management.
• Security fundamentals: endpoint protection, patching, encryption, logging, least-privilege.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate tasks.
• Clear, proactive ownership mindset; able to diagnose and fix issues before escalation.
• Fluency with AI tools (Claude, Copilot) to accelerate work.

Responsibilities

• Automate recurring operational work via Python, Bash, or PowerShell to remove manual provisioning, reporting, and offboarding.
• Lead end-to-end migrations between vendors and systems with zero data loss, including mail and file migrations and tenant consolidations.
• Own and automate identity and access management, including SSO/SAML/SCIM, Google Workspace, and secrets management.
• Manage endpoint fleet at scale: provisioning, MDM policy, disk encryption, patching, and compliance across multi-OS.
• Oversee networking: LAN/WLAN, DNS/DHCP, firewalls, VPN, and site-to-site connectivity, with deep troubleshooting.
• Operate core infrastructure: servers, virtualization, storage, backups across Linux, macOS, Windows.
• Strengthen security posture with endpoint protection, patching, logging, baselines, audits.
• Drive IT/security incident response: triage, root cause, containment, documentation.
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling to accelerate scripting, migrations, and runbooks.

Role Overview

The role is that of an IT Systems & Automation Engineer to own and automate the internal technology platform our teams across India and the US run on every day: identity and access, the endpoint fleet, office and remote connectivity including VPN, and the SaaS stack the company depends on. You will treat that platform as something to be engineered rather than administered: scripting away manual work, building the integrations that keep systems in sync, and leading end-to-end migrations that move users and data between vendors without disruption or loss. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands these systems from first principles rather than from a runbook, who spots and fixes problems before anyone raises a ticket, and who uses modern AI tooling to move faster than a team this size normally could.

What You'll Do

• Automate recurring operational work: script against platform and SaaS APIs in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to eliminate manual provisioning, reporting, and offboarding.
• Lead migrations end-to-end: plan and execute moves between vendors and systems with zero data loss, covering mail and file migrations, tenant consolidations, identity provider and MDM cutovers, and on-premise to cloud transitions, owning validation and rollback at every step.
• Own and automate identity and access management: SSO/SAML/SCIM, Google Workspace, directory services, and a secrets manager; automate joiner-mover-leaver flows and run periodic least-privilege access reviews.
• Manage the endpoint fleet at scale: device provisioning and MDM policy, disk encryption, patching, and compliance across a distributed, multi-OS workforce.
• Own networking and connectivity: LAN/WLAN, routing and switching, firewalls, DNS/DHCP, network segmentation, and site-to-site and remote-access VPN, including deep troubleshooting when things break.
• Operate and maintain core infrastructure: servers, virtualization, storage, and backup and recovery across Linux, macOS, and Windows environments.
• Strengthen our security posture: endpoint protection, vulnerability and patch management, logging and alerting, hardening baselines, and evidence collection for compliance audits.
• Drive IT and security incident response: triage, contain, find root cause, and document, so the same issue does not return.
• Use AI-assisted tooling (Claude, Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate scripting, migration planning, runbooks, diagnostics, and overall operational speed and quality.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in IT systems administration, corporate IT / IT platform engineering, or IT security engineering.
• Strong hands-on infrastructure skills across Linux, macOS, and Windows administration, virtualization, storage, and backup and recovery.
• Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching, firewalls, and hands-on VPN configuration and troubleshooting. You can explain what is actually happening on the wire, not just which setting to change.
• Proven migration experience: you have moved users and data between platforms yourself and handled planning, cutover, validation, and rollback.
• Identity and access management experience with SSO/SAML, directory services, MDM, and password or secrets management.
• Working knowledge of security fundamentals: endpoint protection, patching, encryption, logging, and least-privilege access.
• Scripting ability in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate administration and reporting.
• Genuine conceptual clarity and a proactive ownership mindset: you understand why systems behave the way they do, and you find and fix problems before they are reported to you.
• Fluency with AI development tools: you actively use Claude, Copilot, or similar to work faster and smarter. This is important to us.

• Experience supporting a fast-growing product engineering organisation across multiple offices and time zones.
• Exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or GDPR compliance programmes, audits, and evidence automation.
• Cloud infrastructure exposure: AWS IAM, VPC, and networking.
