About the Role

We are building a new-age, tech-led digital lending business focused on small-ticket, short-tenure unsecured loans for Indian customers.

We are a team of seasoned operators from premier institutions like IIT, NSIT, IIM, with experience working in companies like ICICI Bank, Flipkart, Airtel, Anand Rathi, Snapdeal, RBS etc. We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly analytical Internal Audit Manager who will be responsible for ensuring adherence to internal processes, policies, and SOPs across various functions including credit, operations, collections, customer support, and other business teams.

This role involves conducting periodic audits, reviewing sample cases and transactions, identifying process gaps, ensuring policy compliance, and recommending corrective actions. The candidate will play a critical role in strengthening operational controls, maintaining portfolio quality, and ensuring that all teams function in accordance with defined standards and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate should come from a digital lending, NBFC, banking, or fintech background and possess strong process orientation, analytical capabilities, and an eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct periodic internal audits across credit, operations, collections, customer support, and other business functions.
  • Perform sample-based reviews of sanctioned loan cases to ensure adherence to underwriting policies and SOPs.
  • Verify that credit decisions, documentation, customer interactions, and operational processes are being carried out as per internal guidelines.
  • Review loan files, KYC documents, bureau reports, bank statements, and approval trails to ensure process compliance.
  • Identify policy deviations, process gaps, operational weaknesses, and control deficiencies.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for audit observations and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure timely closure of audit findings and monitor implementation of corrective measures by respective teams.
  • Perform quality checks on customer interactions, verification processes, collections activities, and operational workflows.
  • Develop audit checklists, review frameworks, and process control mechanisms.
  • Track and report recurring issues, fraud trends, and process breaches to management.
  • Work closely with business, credit, operations, collections, technology, compliance, and risk teams to improve control frameworks.
  • Maintain audit documentation and ensure readiness for internal and regulatory reviews.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly audit MIS reports and present findings to management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing process quality, operational efficiency, and risk management.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and best practices across the organization.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 3–7 years of total work experience.
  • Prior experience in internal audit, quality assurance, operations audit, credit audit, or process control functions within a fintech, NBFC, bank, or digital lending company.
  • Strong understanding of digital lending processes, underwriting workflows, customer onboarding, collections, and operations.
  • Hands‑on experience in conducting sample audits, identifying process deviations, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Strong knowledge of KYC requirements, bureau reports, bank statement analysis, and loan documentation.
  • Ability to identify fraud indicators, operational risks, and control weaknesses.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to challenge stakeholders and drive issue resolution.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, MIS reporting, and audit documentation.
  • Ability to work independently with high ownership and attention to detail.
  • Prior experience with quality assurance or internal controls in a startup environment will be preferred.
What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a hands‑on audit professional who can independently establish and manage the internal audit function while ensuring strong process discipline across the organization.

The right candidate should be comfortable reviewing sample cases, identifying deviations, questioning stakeholders, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring that all teams operate in accordance with established SOPs, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. The candidate should possess strong analytical capabilities, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain operational integrity in a fast‑paced digital lending environment.

Compensation

Compensation will be as per industry standards and will be based on the candidate's relevant experience, domain knowledge, skill set, and performance during the interview process.
