Job summary

Valeo is seeking an Intellectual Property Engineer in Chennai to drive protection strategies for inventions and technologies. You will define filing plans, coordinate drafting and prosecutions, and work with R&D to secure patent rights.

The role supports global IP programs and requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. You will train engineers on IP matters, review agreements for IP clauses, and contribute to risk assessment and portfolio optimization within a leading automotive

Qualifications

• Definition of creation/inventions, preparation of filings, filings and prosecutions.
• IP training for R&D/R&I teams.
• Reviewing IP clauses in agreements and proposing modifications.

Responsibilities

• Select appropriate IP protection type (Patent, Design, Copyright, ...) and plan filings.
• Draft filings, coordinate with legal teams, and manage prosecutions.
• Assess infringement risks and conduct freedom-to-operate studies.
• Support cross-functional teams with IP strategy and patent portfolio management.
• Provide IP training and ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures.
