KBR, Inc. is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to design and deliver control system solutions across the asset life cycle. The role involves basic process control, safety systems, instrumentation, and vendor coordination within multidisciplinary teams.

The candidate should bring substantial experience in instrumentation, control systems, and project leadership, with a preference for Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineers to lead segments of larger projects.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Design, specification and services for control systems including basic process control, safety systems, control panels, analyzer systems, instrumentation and valves.

  • Devise new approaches, plan and schedule work, and select engineering techniques and criteria.
  • Handle complex design requirements and coordinate with stakeholders on project delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers to support cost efficiency and operations.

Summary Section:

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for design, specification and services related to control systems including basic process control systems, safety systems, control panels, analyzer systems, telecommunications, field instrumentation, and valves etc.

  • May also be responsible for advanced controls optimization. Under general supervision, performs all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter.

  • Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.

  • Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.

Qualifications including Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
  • Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Engineering and a minimum of 7 years related experience, with average experience ranging from 7-20 years.

  • Requires sufficient professional experience to assure competence as a fully trained professional. Work requires a broad knowledge of precedents.

  • Also may be responsible for leadership of a functional area on a small project or a segment of a larger project.

  • As the lead, plans, budgets, organizes, coordinates and controls the project and is responsible for employee performance appraisals and for coaching and developing lower level professionals.

  • Certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer is preferred.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

BE/B.Tech - Instrumentation and Control / Electronics and Instrumentation .

Experience: 7 to 20 relevant years.
