Job summary

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) seeks an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead design, specification, and services for control systems across projects. You will handle field instrumentation, safety systems, panels, and analyzers within a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires extensive experience (7+ years), an engineering degree, and leadership capabilities. A Chartered PE license is preferred, with opportunities to advance in energy-transition initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years related experience with a broad knowledge of precedents.
  • Leadership of a functional area on small projects or segments of larger ones.
  • Lead responsibilities include planning, budgeting, organizing, coordinating and controlling projects and coaching less experienced staff.
  • Certification as Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, specification and services related to control systems including basic process control systems, safety systems, control panels, analyzer systems, and field instrumentation.
  • May also lead advanced controls optimization and perform work requiring independent judgment.
  • Devise new approaches to problems, plan and execute tasks, and adapt engineering techniques to project needs.
  • Provide technical guidance to designers and engineers; impact on cost, efficiency and operations.

Summary Section:

These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for design, specification and services related to control systems including basic process control systems, safety systems, control panels, analyzer systems, telecommunications, field instrumentation, and valves etc.

  • May also be responsible for advanced controls optimization. Under general supervision, performs all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter.

  • Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.

  • Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.

Qualifications including Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
  • Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Engineering and a minimum of 7 years related experience, with average experience ranging from 7-20 years.

  • Requires sufficient professional experience to assure competence as a fully trained professional. Work requires a broad knowledge of precedents.

  • Also may be responsible for leadership of a functional area on a small project or a segment of a larger project.

  • As the lead, plans, budgets, organizes, coordinates and controls the project and is responsible for employee performance appraisals and for coaching and developing lower level professionals.

  • Certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer is preferred.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

BE/B.Tech - Instrumentation and Control / Electronics and Instrumentation.

Experience: 7 to 20 relevant years.
